A little-known detail about the Nausicaa: the line was created by Jean-Louis Dumas in 1971, combining a name inspired by the sea with one of Hermès’ most enduring equestrian signatures. Its two articulated horsebit motifs are a direct reference to the Maison’s origins in harness-making, translating an object designed for the horse into a piece of jewelry.

The colorful combination is characteristic of Cartier’s “Tutti Frutti” aesthetic, inspired by Indian jewelry and traditionally associated with carved emeralds, rubies and sapphires arranged in vivid, nature-inspired compositions. Here, Cartier interprets the palette through faceted stones, bringing a more graphic expression to the style.

The parure brings together approximately 10 carats of diamonds, 8 carats of emeralds, 8 carats of rubies and 6 carats of sapphires.

Inès wears a 18-carat yellow gold “Draperie” necklace composed of smooth tubular links, finished with a click clasp and safety catch.

The necklace bears the maker’s mark of Louis Moncany & Cie, a Parisian workshop established in 1922. Particularly associated with both solid and hollow gold chain-making, it remained active in Paris until 1975. A beautiful example of the technical savoir-faire behind the supple, sculptural gold jewelry of the mid-20th century.
