Japan-Best has gathered a collection of 15 Japanese companies, craftsmen & artists. Most of the products we carry are handmade by artisans or craftsmen working out of small studios, or small manufacturers, many with long histories and employing techniques perfected over generations. It used to be not long ago that if we mentioned Japanese craft, it immediately conjured images only of washi lamps,

traditional lacquer bowls, tatami mats, shoji screens and ukiyoe prints. But contemporary Japanese designers working sometimes in collaboration with traditional craftmen have applied the traditions of simplicity, elegance, and harmony beyond those, to a variety of household goods. Japan-Best hopes to offer international customers a range of these well crafted, well designed products that reflects what is being designed and produced today by young artists as well as established master craftsmen. Japan is full of beautifully crafted yet relatively inexpensive work being produced in Japan today. Much of that work has been unavailable outside of Japan and it is our goal to introduce that work and the artists and craftsmen that produce it. Japan-Best is based in Paris but we sell and ship to all countries worldwide.
