For sale❗️Du Rififi à Paname OST 7′ – Georges Garvarentz (1966) 🎥🎼🪘

Another rare Japan-only release, this one has a slightly different cover than the French EP. Great suspense jazz and pop twist, oddly enough I came across many versions of “Riff-Hi-Fi” on Japanese jazz records. The film noir à la Française was very popular over there and so was its music!

Here’s a great introduction to Jun Mayuzumi’s work. This live performance LP shows her talent through a variety of singing styles. Rhythm and Blues, Bossa nova, Soul and Kayokyoku. Backing her is the inevitable Akira Ishikawa on drums and a big name in Japanese jazz at the time : Nobuo Hara & His Sharps and Flats.

For sale❗️A Thousand & One Nights OST LP – Tomita & The Helpful Soul (1969) 🌀💣💥🎸

Rare first issue of this cult soundtrack by Isao Tomita and obscure GS band The Helpful Soul. Both artists were chosen by famous Japanese manga artist Osamu Tezuka to illustrate in 1969 this far-out version of the 1001 Nights. The music is excellent, very psychedelic and atmospheric. If you don’t know it, check it out now but you should also try to watch the movie!

This limited edition and now out-of-print seven inch is so good! Each song is taken from four different rare albums (from 1970) by Japanese bamboo (shakuhachi) flute master Minoru Muraoka. Funky rhythms, latin percussions, electronic organ and long drum breaks are the main attractions here. Aside from being among the most sought-after Japanese rare grooves of course. You got it, this donut is a serious contender and a great addition to your DJ box.
