🎶 WHAT WAS THE FIRST REGGAE RECORD YOU EVER BOUGHT?
Every collection starts somewhere.
Maybe it was a 45, an LP, a repress, a battered Jamaican pressing…
but there’s always that first record you remember.
👇 What was yours?
And do you still have it today?

🎛️ FAVOURITE 80s PRODUCER?

The 1980s gave Jamaican music some of its most important producers and sonic architects. 🇯🇲

From the dub science of King Tubby and Scientist,
to the digital revolution of King Jammy,
the polished sound of Gussie Clarke,
and the game-changing productions of Steely & Clevie…

Each of them helped shape the sound of reggae, dub and dancehall in a different way. 🔥

Different studios.
Different techniques.
Different eras of sound.
Same massive impact.

👇 So tell us — who’s your favourite 80s Jamaican producer?
And if you want, drop the tune or album that made you choose.

🇯🇲 BLANK vs LABELED

💿 BLANK OR LABELED?

They may look like two copies of the same tune… but with Jamaican vinyl, things aren’t always that simple. 👀

✍️ BLANK — handwritten, stamped or completely anonymous. And sometimes you may even find a slightly different mix, cut or version hiding behind that blank label.

🏷️ LABELED — artist, title, label artwork and a pressing that’s usually easier to identify and document.

That mystery is exactly why blanks can be so much fun to collect. 🇯🇲🔥

Same tune, same condition, same price…

👇 Are you taking the BLANK or the LABELED copy? And why?

🎛️ **BEHIND THE SOUND — LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY**

🇯🇲 **4 TRACKS. INFINITE SOUND.**

Here’s something that still surprises people about the legendary **Black Ark Studio**…

Lee “Scratch” Perry created much of the studio’s extraordinary 1970s sound around a **TEAC 3340 4-track tape machine**.

Just four tracks. 👀

The magic came from what Perry did with them: bouncing tracks, layering sounds, pushing tape, and using echo, reverb and effects as part of the music itself.

And Scratch’s experiments didn’t always stop at the mixing desk…

Stories from the Black Ark era even describe **tapes being buried in the studio grounds** as part of Perry’s famously unconventional approach.

Technology was only part of the equation.

🔥 **The studio itself became an instrument.**

👇 For the Perry collectors here: what’s your favourite Black Ark production?

💿 CONDITION OR RARITY?

Same budget. Two very different choices…

✨ A hard-to-find LP in beautiful condition — clean vinyl, clean sleeve, ready for the collection.

🔥 Or a rare Studio One 7" in VG condition — marks, label wear, a little history… but a tune you don’t come across every day.

As collectors, we all have our priorities.

Would you choose CONDITION or RARITY? 👀

💿 ORIGINAL PRESSING OR REPRESS?

For some collectors, nothing beats owning the original pressing.
The label, the matrix, the history… and sometimes that unmistakable sound. 🔥

But a good repress can also be the perfect way to enjoy a great record without spending a fortune.

So when you're digging for reggae vinyl, what matters most to you?

🔎 The original pressing & its history?
🎶 Or a clean copy that simply sounds great?
