It all started with somewhere to put the ideas…

As L&H has slowly begun to take shape, I realised I wanted somewhere to keep more than patterns and notes.

Somewhere to hold the stories, photographs and little details behind the things I create.

And somewhere else for all the what ifs…

The ideas that aren’t ready to become anything yet, but that I don’t want to lose.

So two very different books have slowly been taking shape.

My Collection Book holds the story that’s unfolding.

And What If… A Notebook of Future Stories holds the possibilities of what might come next.

I think I need both. 🤍

💭 Creative thoughts…

I’ve noticed something recently.

At the moment, I have three crochet projects on the go.

They’re all completely different.

Different yarns.

Different hook sizes.

Different stitches.

For a long time, I thought that meant I couldn’t make my mind up.

Now I wonder if it’s because each project gives me something different.

One lets me lose myself in long, steady rows.

One asks me to slow down and think carefully about shape and proportion.

And one began as nothing more than a way to use up some yarn from my stash… yet it’s quietly becoming something much more special than I ever expected.

They’re all crochet.

But they’re not all serving the same purpose.

I’ve realised that creativity isn’t always about finishing one thing before starting another.

Sometimes it’s about having the right project waiting for you when you need it.

🧵 Little details…

This morning I reached for one of the very first crochet hooks I ever bought.

For a long time, it was simply my crochet hook.

Within just a few stitches, I noticed something I never would have noticed before.

The yarn didn’t glide quite as smoothly.

It caught just a little more than I remembered.

Without really thinking about it, I found myself picking up the hook I’d been using instead.

It wasn’t until that moment that I realised how much one small detail can quietly shape the whole experience.

It reminded me that sometimes we don’t notice an improvement while it’s happening—we only realise it when we look back.

Perhaps that’s why the little details matter so much.

They’re often quietly shaping our experience long before we realise they’re there.

🧶 On my hook today…

Sometimes the most important crochet isn’t a finished piece at all.

It’s a little swatch.

Trying a different stitch.
Changing the hook size.
Seeing how the texture feels.

These small experiments help me understand how a yarn behaves before it becomes part of something bigger.

Not every swatch finds its way into a finished design, but every one teaches me something.

I love that creating often looks like this—quiet moments of trying, adjusting and discovering, one row at a time.

It all started with a feeling...

I found myself looking around my bedroom and realising it had become practical rather than personal.

I wanted it to feel calmer. Softer. More comforting. A space filled with colours and textures that reflected me.

After finishing my Daisy cushion, I realised I didn't just want one handmade cushion. I wanted to slowly build a collection that felt like it belonged together.

Not matching cushions, but pieces that belong together. Different stitch patterns, different textures and different stories, each adding something of its own.

The Lewis Cushion was the first step in that journey.

Sometimes creating something beautiful doesn't begin with a pattern. Sometimes it begins with imagining how you want a room to feel.

🧵 Little details...

I love taking photographs like this because they remind me that handmade pieces are made up of hundreds of tiny decisions.

A subtle ridge.

A soft fold.

Carefully placed stitches.

A tiny heart button.

On their own they don't seem like much, but together they're what give a handmade piece its own quiet character.

Those little details are often the difference between something that's simply made... and something that's made with care.

💭 Creative thoughts...

I've realised that inspiration rarely arrives when I'm sitting down thinking, "I need a new idea."

More often, it finds me while I'm out walking the dogs, or spending time with friends and stopping to admire something as simple as the flowers in their garden.

Yesterday was one of those moments. While visiting a friend, I found myself admiring her beautiful wildflower garden. Before long, I wasn't just looking at the flowers anymore—I was noticing the colours, the textures and all the little details that quietly spark new ideas.

I don't always know where those ideas will lead, but I love that they start with something as simple as taking the time to notice. 🌿🤍

🧶 On my hook today…

A peaceful morning, soft white yarn and a simple stitch pattern.

Sometimes the quietest colours and the simplest stitches create the most beautiful pieces. They don’t need to shout for attention—they simply bring a feeling of calm.

There’s something really satisfying about letting the texture do the talking, and I’m looking forward to seeing this one slowly come together over the next few days.

It all started with one picture...

Sometimes all it takes is one picture to spark an idea.

I came across a photo of a retro daisy granny square and immediately thought, I'd love to make something with that.

A hook, some yarn, and that little idea slowly grew into this cushion.

That's one of the things I love most about making. Every project has its own story. It starts with an idea, becomes a work in progress with plenty of unravelling, restarting, little victories and, of course, more Diet Coke... before finally becoming something made with time, patience and care.

I thought it would be nice to share a little of its journey rather than just the finished cushion, because for me, handmade pieces are about so much more than the end result. They carry the time, care and all the little moments that went into making them.

This cushion now sits in my home as a reminder that beautiful things often begin with the simplest ideas.

Well... I suppose I should introduce myself! 👋

Hi, I'm Linda, the person usually hiding behind a crochet hook, camera, Cricut, or a pile of yarn. 😂

This little corner of Facebook is where I'll be sharing all the things I love creating... the finished pieces, the works in progress, the ideas that pop into my head at 10pm, and probably the occasional project that starts with "I wonder if I could make that...".
