Thankyou Oban for such a lovely day, it was great to see our regular customers ( some of them only last week 😉😂) and also meet some new faces.

We do hope that you will all come to visit us soon and thankyou for all you support not just for today but for every sale, event share and kind words we really do appreciate it. Karelia House is a small team and family run business and it means the world to us that you take them time to either visit us in the shop or travel to our pop ups.

Fish and chips from Norrie’s was absolutely delicious and in the sunshine by the harbour, bliss after a busy day.

Also a big thankyou to all of our team, we couldn’t do it without you x

This week is sewing machine servicing week, Mark has been doing a great job and as always has been kept busy.

This embroidery machine was in needing a little TLC, thread has been caught and tangled inside. Didn’t like the thread used.

Here’s some top tips to keep your machine running smoothly and what we always tell our customers when they purchase a machine from us.

🧵 ALWAYS use good quality thread and the right type for the project.
🪡 Use the correct stabilisers.
🧵 Change needle often.
🪡 Good quality fabrics.
🧵 Keep machine clean and fluff free.

All these things make a huge difference, your machine will thank you for it.

So take the time keep your machine free of lint and use the right threads and fabric. Saving a little bit will cost you more in the long run.

If you need help choosing fabrics, threads, stabilisers or accessories a member of the team will be happy to help.

Some exciting news 📣

We are thrilled to welcome Amanda Longstaff Amanda back with us to host another days workshop here at Karelia House.

This is Amanda’s own design which is stunning, join us for a relaxed and enjoyable class where you will learn or practise knitting in the round, colourwork techniques and many other skills.

Under the guidance of Amanda you will create her log cabin cushion cover in your own colourway knitting with the gorgeous 100% wool Hjetegan Natur Uld yarn.

No previous colourwork experience is required, you should be comfortable with the basic knitting and purling.

All details are now live online and available to book.
