Botanical craft workshops coming this Autumn

Explore the beauty of nature through my collection of botanical inspired workshops. Designed for anyone who enjoys creativity and crafting, these hands on sessions celebrate natural materials, traditional techniques and mindful making. Each workshop offers a chance to play and have fun, learn new skills and create something unique.

These workshops will be taking place in the new Abersoch community event space at Menter
Rabar this Autumn. Keep an eye out for more information and how to book.

In the meantime if anyone is interested I can run any of these workshops in my unit this Summer
for individuals or small groups, just get in touch to enquire about availability.

Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, all workshops are relaxed, welcoming and include everything you need to complete your project. Come alone or bring a friend, get creative and leave with beautiful handmade pieces inspired by nature.

Mae’r gweithdai yma’n addas i unrhyw un sydd wrth ei bodd â chreadigrwydd a gwneud pethau sydd yn dathlu deunyddiau naturiol a technegau traddodiadol. Mae pob gweithdy’n rhoi cyfle i chi chwarae, cael hwyl, dysgu sgìl newydd, a chreu rhywbeth unigryw eich hun.

Alternative photography using nettles 🌱

Somewhere in between an anthotype and a cyanotype. Vertotypes are a process where you use nettles instead of ferric ammonium citrate when mixing cyanotype chemicals, this produces an image which is a paler blue than cyanotype.

I saw this process it was discovered by Jonathan Bradley and I had to give it a try.

I have enjoyed using the solution while still wet with pressed seaweeds, adding salt, vinegar and turmeric.

Pressed seaweed monoprints

I have just been framing some of my gel plate prints and thought these worked as a nice trio.

I have used metallic effect paint which gives the prints a slight shimmer in different shades of blue. The bobbly egg wrack gives good texture.

Keeping it simple with black wooden frames and white mounts with non reflective glass 👌🏼✨
