We’re starting with a little taster menu to help us discover what you lovely lot would like to see more of in the future. So come along, grab a seat and help us shape our Sunday offerings!

Weekend cook & front of house coordinator (Sundays)

Creative Connections Café & Creative Hub – Alfreton

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and proactive person to join our team on Sundays.

Hours:

* Every Sunday: 9:30am – 3:30pm (6 hours)
* Additional hours may occasionally be available for training, holiday cover and special events.

This is a position of responsibility, ideal for someone with a mature, professional approach who is confident working independently as well as part of a team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our café and kitchen run smoothly during what can be a busy service.

Key Responsibilities will include:

* Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere.
* Coordinate the smooth running of the kitchen and café during busy periods.
* Prepare and serve food and drinks to a high standard.
* Open and secure the premises, including key holding responsibilities.
* Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
* Assist with stock control
* Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
* Work closely with colleagues to ensure efficient service.
* ⁠Plus additional duties to ensure the running of the business

We’re looking for someone who:

* Has a warm, confident personality and enjoys interacting with customers of all ages.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Can remain calm, organised and efficient under pressure.
* Takes pride in their work and is happy to use their own initiative.
* Has a good understanding of basic food hygiene and food safety practices (preferred but not essential).
* Is trustworthy, dependable and comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the café when required.

Experience:
Previous experience in a café, hospitality or customer-facing environment is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Discover the beautiful art of blackwork embroidery in this relaxed and friendly 8-week sew-along.

Each session, you’ll receive two new tiles to stitch, gradually building a stunning decorative piece while developing your embroidery skills. We’ll explore traditional blackwork patterns alongside modern stitching techniques, with plenty of tuition, tips and support along the way.

Whether you’re completely new to embroidery or want to build your confidence, you’ll learn useful basic hand embroidery skills, stitching techniques and pattern reading in a friendly, supportive environment.

What’s included?

🧵 First session – £20
Includes all the materials and equipment you need to keep and take home, so you can continue stitching between sessions.

🧵 Following sessions – £8 each
• Two new tiles released each session
• Tuition and support throughout
• Learn traditional and modern blackwork techniques
• Develop your hand embroidery skills
• Work at your own pace

📅 8 fortnightly sessions, starting Tuesday 6th October
(4 sessions before Christmas and 4 sessions in the New Year)
