The sweetest little beech occasional chair with cane back and seat is on my stand in Alnwick Vintage & Antique. Great for a bedroom or hallway or bringing character to the corner of a living room.

There’s a trove of treasure in my cabinet in Alnwick Vintage & Antique all waiting to be discovered by you. The shop is open from 10-5 every day except Sundays. You’ll see silver and gold jewellery, collectibles like Liberty and Beswick and both Georgian and Victorian fine silver.

Here’s a useful little coffee table made of solid oak which is coming into Alnwick Vintage & Antique with me today. It’s very well made and well proportioned too. The leaves drop down if you want something smaller and the top twists round hold them up. Canny indeed.
The gorgeous handmade lilac coloured embossed wineglasses (set of six) and vintage rose decorated trio will be available too.
We’re open from 10-5 (everyday except Sundays).

*SOLD* A handsome and very comfortable Thonet bentwood chair from the late 1890s/early 1900s has flown in and out of McTigue’s Antiques this week. In superb condition and quite an unusual design but with intact label and impressed mark there is no doubt about its authenticity. I was very happy to supply it directly to a customer who came in with a request.
If there’s something you are particularly looking for don’t be shy about asking in the shop. Not all of our stock is on the shop floor so we may have your heart’s desire in storage waiting for you!

Here’s a lovely summery group of objects all winging their way onto my stand in Alnwick Vintage & Antique this week.
Lots of gorgeous pink and copper tones. There is a Dartmouth Pottery vase with an impressed moorhen design, a lovely copper alms dish (SOLD), a pair of Davidson’s Cloud Glass candlesticks in deep pink (SOLD), some fine china by Royal Worcester, Rosenthal and Limoges and some Welsh gaudy copper lustre ware. Last but not least is a diminutive Ichimatsu doll in traditional kimono. So cute!
The shop is open every day from 10-5 (not Sundays). It is on the Market Place in Alnwick, Northumberland.

A bevy of beautiful rings are coming into my cabinet in Alnwick Vintage & Antique this week. The price of gold may be high but there are some real gems to be had out there. Buying second hand jewellery is ethical and a lot less expensive than your average high street jeweller.
From left to right are a 9ct white gold and tanzanite ring, a 9ct yellow gold ring with sapphires and diamonds (SOLD) and a 9ct white gold and aquamarine ring.

Back to work today and here are some new stock items for your delectation. A very large map of Northumberland printed on linen (SOLD), two collector’s cabinets, an antiquarian print of Durham Cathedral(SOLD).

Summer in Northumberland, when your family visit and all the old toys come out, you climb the Drake Stone (and a tree) and learn to fly a broomstick, sail to the Farne Islands, celebrate an engagement, have horsey rides round the house, freeze on the beach and top it off by adopting a rescue cat! June has been a wonderful month for me and it’s not even Midsummer yet! Hope your summer starts as well as mine has 😊

I bought this lovely mid century painting by Violet Digby at auction recently, alongside a painting by Karen Wallbank who I have featured before.

This is a mountain landscape possibly a watercolour sketch. The paint technique is reminiscent of later Vanessa Bell and before I looked at the back I joked “could this be Bloomsbury?” Imagine my delight to discover that Violet M. Digby was an accomplished painter who had trained at Hastings School of Art, the Slade and the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris . She travelled in Norway (where this is set) in the early 1950s, then visited Kashmir and corresponded with Nehru before her death in 1960. She was a member of the St Ives Society of Artists and The Pastel Society. The Nehru Centre in London held a posthumous exhibition of her work in 2016..

This interesting watercolour will be on sale on my stand in Alnwick Vintage & Antique this week.
