The business was established in 1918.
⭐️ Nightwear, Daywear & Swimwear across Adults and Kids ⭐️ First formed in 1912 in Manchester by John Henry Aykroyd, we started to specialize in nightwear in the 1950’s. In the 1980’s the company started to design in-house, a move that had a significant impact on the transition into character clothing. By the middle of the decade we were producing mainly children’s nightwear. In the last 10 years we have progressed and developed an excellent supply base. At the helm now we have twins David and Nigel Aykroyd, the great-grandsons of founder John Henry Aykroyd. Character Building houses all our head office operations including sales, licensing, importation and technical administrations, as well as a talented design team. Our Design, Print, Imports and Technical departments work closely with our customers producing one-off designs to their exact needs using the most up to date computer programs available. Bala
Berwyn factory in Bala, Wales, is the site of our production, warehousing and reprocessing facility. Here we have the very latest in garment technology, from computerised lay planning and cutting to hi-tech sewing machinery, as well as state of the art garment handling equipment. All of this, teamed with a loyal and highly experienced production team help to ensure that the highest quality standards are applied from intake to production, despatch and delivery. Our Loughborough office houses our Midland based sales team. Situated within easy reach of the M1 motorway the site also has a heat application operation to complement our Bala plant. Fitted with the latest in machine technology it offers a range of heat applications to enhance UK produced garments. Nantong
Aykroyd & Sons have recently opened Nantong Creative Print in China. Situated North West of Shanghai in the Jiangsu province and established as a ‘wholly foreign owned enterprise’. We are able to specialise in water based pigment, discharge and plastisol prints, offering the very latest innovative specialist print techniques at competitive prices.
