Sometimes all you need is a book, a blanket, some chicken noodle soup and a fake Scottish pub with a crackling fire and trad music playing on your iPad!

I am loving Jackson’s Journey by Heather Pearson just now.

It’s set in the not so distant future in New Scotland, a world where a government with a conscious is making right the clearances with an “unclearance” initiative giving back pieces of Highland land to the descendants of the cleared.

It’s funny, and heart warming, and deals with social media “stardom” as well as family dynamics all whilst travelling through Scotland’s most beautiful places.

Would it even be my Bloody Scotland recommendation day if Ruth Galloway didn't mention Elly Griffiths , even though this time she will be talking about her genius time travelling detective Ali Dawson on her second outing in The Killing Time.

I adore Ali! Like serious girl crush material. The attitude! The slighly chaotic imperfect unapologetic realness of the woman! The concept of time travel meaning that Elly could literally take Ali anywhere at anytime!

I'm so looking forward to hearing Elly talk more about Ali, and what a dream this must be for an author to write - and research! Oh the rabbit holes the research must be! Bliss!

Elly is teamed up this year with Ellery Lloyd (actually husband and wife team Colette Lyons and Paul Vlitos) whose book Time to Burn where the super wealthy elite of this world can visit any pivotal moment in history but run the risk of a ripple effect with unknown and terrifying consequences. Looking forward to reading this one.

It's my official day on the Bloody Scotland countdown so here I go with my top picks for this year.

I literally opened the programme and the first panel on the first day immediately jumped out at me.
