It was a really special opportunity to hear more from the St Mary’s team about their services, the impact they have across our community and their plans for the future.

We’re incredibly proud to support St Mary’s Hospice by providing a welcoming, peaceful space where they can deliver vital support, wellbeing services and education closer to home for people in the South Lakes area.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped mark the beginning of this important partnership. We’re excited to see the difference this work will continue to make.

We’re so proud to support St Mary's Hospice through their satellite base here at Kelsick Grammar in Ambleside.

Having bases in Ambleside and Ulverston helps the charity provide more support, outreach, wellbeing services and education closer to home for people across the community.

This week, we’ve loved hearing from Lynsey Lawson, Head of Community Services at St Mary’s Hospice, about the incredible work they do, who they support, and how hospice care can make such a meaningful difference to individuals, families and carers.

From challenging common misconceptions to sharing touching stories of compassionate care, this spotlight series has been a powerful reminder of just how much St Mary’s Hospice means to our community.

Hospice care doesn’t always look how people expect.

In today’s spotlight video, Lynsey Lawson shares some of the deeply personal ways the team at St Mary's Hospice go above and beyond for the people in their care.

From supporting someone without close family nearby to make sure their wishes were respected and their beloved animals were cared for, to bringing lambs onto the inpatient ward for a farmer receiving treatment during lambing season, these stories show the heart behind hospice care.

It is about trust, dignity, compassion and recognising the individual behind every person being supported.

These moments may seem small from the outside, but for patients and their loved ones, they can mean everything.

Thank you to Lynsey and the St Mary’s Hospice team for sharing such moving examples of what care can look like when people are truly seen and understood.

Hospice care is often misunderstood.

For today’s spotlight video, we’re joined by Lynsey Lawson, Head of Community Services at St Mary's Hospice, who talks about what hospice care really means, who it is for, and how people can access support.

For many, the word hospice can feel frightening or final. But hospice care is about so much more than end-of-life support.

It is about helping people live as well as possible, with practical guidance, emotional support, wellbeing services, education and space for honest conversations.

It is also about supporting families, carers and those experiencing loss or grief, so no one has to feel they are facing things alone.

Through their sessions here at Kelsick Grammar, St Mary’s Hospice are helping to bring understanding, reassurance and support closer to home for people in the Central Lakes area.

To find out more about their services, wellbeing programmes or education sessions, visit their website or get in touch with the team on 01229 580305.
