It's slowly getting darker again and it's making the shop look quite cosy! 🍂 We're open for all your bookish, coffee, hot chocolate and w**e needs ❤️

We're really looking forward to our Latin American Night next Friday. Don't forget to book your tickets if you want to come! The empanadas will be freshly made by La Zorra | Empanadas & Grill meaning the ticket sale will only be up until Thursday 🥟❤️ Come for the w**e and empanadas, stay for the books and vibes. And who knows, you might even find some early Christmas presents and ideas 🤗🍷

As some of you might know, we are still a small two-person-team in the bookshop, which means that going away on holiday or to trade shows et. can be difficult to plan. That is why we're even more grateful for Chris' parents who are offering to cover for us in the shop while we're away. Please be kind to them, they're always doing their best and we're so happy to have them help ❤️

Books that came out in the last week...

So many exciting hardback releases including the stunning new Pride & Prejudice retelling 'Kitty & Mary' by Julia Gray and that focuses on the forgotten two Bennett sisters, the middle children!

Emma is also really excited about the paperback releases of two of her favourite reads last year: The Ordeals by Rachel Greenlaw and The Last Witch by C.J. Cooke

All of our September events are over now. Thank you to everyone who came! It's always so lovely to bring people together and to chat to everyone!❤️

We've got some more exciting events coming up in October...

On the first Wednesday of the month (07/10) we've got our next Silent Book Club! Spaces are filling up, so get your tickets sooner than later :)

On Friday, the same week, we're collaborating with La Zorra from Ulverston on a Latin American Night!

You'll get to try authentic Argentinian empanadas, sample 3 South American w**es (white, red & rosé) and you get an introduction to South American literature. Also, all South American books are 10% on the night 📚

And the week after, we're doing an author talk with and Rachel Marie - authors of Ravenglass and Paper Sisters who will be talking about their books, writing and more... The event is free! You just need to book your free ticket.

What's happening in September... 👀❤️The links to our events are in our bio 🎟️🔗

Our Silent Book Club is finally coming back. Tickets are £5 and serve as credit for drinks purchased on the night. Bring the book you want to read, come along and enjoy the evening 🍷📖 - Wed, 2nd Sep 7pm - 9pm

In the same week, we also have a really exciting Romantasy Flower Workshop coming up hosted by Mena from Feral Flowers - Lake District Florist - tickets include a glass of w**e, a vase and a flower bouquet to take home with you 💐🍷 - Fri, 4th Sep 6.30pm start.

And in the week after, we are collaborating with Aimee and Rachel from Words and Water | Slow reading in The Lakes on a bookish night. In advance of the event, we ask everyone who is coming to fill in a form on their reading tastes and curate a selection of books to browse personalised for each person who is coming. The ticket price includes a drink of choice, a slice of cake, and one book to take home from our curated selections 🍷📚🍰 - Wed, 9th Sep 6.30pm start.
