Mindfulness is something I’ve only truly embraced over the past few years. After spending so many years on the treadmill of work, juggling home, family and endless responsibilities, I never realised just how burnt out I had become.
In recent years I’ve been incredibly fortunate to slow down and make time for myself. In doing so, I’ve come to appreciate just how precious and fragile life really is. It’s taught me to celebrate the little things, treasure time with the people I love, and, perhaps most importantly, remember that taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
This little picture captures how I love to begin my day: a peaceful walk along the riverbank with Rusty, taking in everything nature has to offer. The crystal-clear water, the wildflowers, the gentle buzz of a bumblebee, a watchful heron, and the quiet company of the Belted Galloway cattle all remind me to simply be present. And of course, this is Scotland, so a glorious sunny day like today is something to be treasured!
I felt compelled to capture this moment in a watercolour print so I could preserve not just the view, but the feeling it gives me. A gentle reminder to never take for granted the beautiful life I now have and to always make time to pause, breathe, and appreciate the world around me.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend
