I fished a free stretch of a local river last week. The amount of spinners in trees was pretty standard, sadly. Not to mention the meters of heavy mono!

Now this is a shameless plug for an edenMADE Tippet Trap, but it is very useful when clearing up line caught in trees. Never mind your own line when it comes to changing rigs, flies etc.

Designed and manufactured completely in the UK. I’d like to think they’re a fairly essential piece of kit for anglers to keep on hand.

I had the pleasure of having Paul build a net in the two day workshop.

He chose a stunning piece of burr oak and did a fantastic job.

The whole process, start to finish with some fishing mixed in for good measure.

One happy new net owner.

A fantastic couple of days building a beautiful net with Chris.

He’s done a super job, working on a tricky, gnarly burr elm handle and the end result speaks for itself.

Going through the whole process from start to finish and leaving with a fully finished and functioning net.

These really do take all the fuss out of waste line management. Securely storing it when on the river bank ready to be sent off for recycling.

The completed net that Tim made.

He did a really fantastic job making a Wild Trout net from start to finish. Sanding and polishing from 80 grit all the way up to 2000.
The finish is then applied and while it soaks in there’s time for a bit more fishing!

The final touches are stitching the mesh on and pinning it to the handle. Attaching the leathers, waxing and all done.

A real pleasure to spend the weekend with Tim and see his net come from a piece of timber to a fully functional and beautiful net.

Day one of the net building course for Tim.

It’s going really well in a beautiful burr Elm handled Wild Trout net. Cut, shaped, glued, carved and pinned. And a river Eden fish to boot!
