Hump Day :)

It's amazing how much we become accustomed to being surrounded by fragrances.

While making for , I was reminded of how much I love the Scottish fragrances. 'Heather' is a beauty. Brings a picture of running through the glens with the sun shining behind you to mind. Then 'Mist', what can I say.... makes you feel relaxed and grounded. Not sure it's supposed to but hey, that's what it does for me. 'Woodland' makes me think of walking through the woods at 5am, with the dew on the grass and droplets falling off the branches. Smell the flowers & the grass with an earthy base to it.

Anyway, gazebo looked out with the extra pegs, candles just need trimming and lids on and then they can go beside the finished ones in their travel box. Diffusers are going as they are and will join the boxed ones in their travel box.

Just got some melts and slates to finish and then once the cash box arrives today, I am all set - says no one ever. Wait and see me running round like a headless chicken on Friday morning cos I've forgotten something 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm away to have a cuppy and then back to more making. It's almost here Handmade by CherryGrove

Yesterday it was all about diffusers and refills, today is candles; melts & clams.

First small batch setting and getting the second batch prepped.
The excitement of getting ready for a big day out is here just now but will very quickly evaporate leaving the - do I have enough? have I made the right stuff to creep in. Then it'll not be the heat that's keeping me up at night, it'll be them 🤣🤣

I did remember to order a new cash box today as I accidentally broke the last one and had to break the lock ..... not ideal for taking to Lonach, so got a pretty one on the way. Can you tell I'm looking forward to Saturday? I'll be there alongside Handmade by CherryGrove

That's my tea break finished 😔so best get back to it....

The lovely Lynda is in today looking after things. Why not pop in for a browse and a chat, I know she'd love to see you. Lots of handmade goodies for you to see and buy 😀

Hello Monday,
Start of another busy week.
Many of the schools in Angus go back tomorrow and I’m busy prepping for Lonach.

Don’t really have much to show for the prep as it’s mostly in packaging or in boxes for transportation ☺️

I’ve been down and hoovered and restocked the diffusers in the shop. The lovely Sheila is in looking after things today. Why not pop in for a chat and a wee browse, I know she’d love to see you.

I’m away to head back home and start some more making. The rain will hopefully make working throughout the day easier for me ☔️

Today has been a beautiful day.
Door open, sun shining and people out and about.

For the past few nights, I’ve been busy in my workshop making away. Getting ready for next weekend. I’m really looking forward to The Lonach Highland Games with Amanda of handmadebycherrygrove.

This means that the scents of Scotland are flowing throughout the workshop, and as well as making, there’s a lot of reminiscing and dancing away to my favourite tunes.

This pic was of a candle which left me recently to go to a very special person. I’m loving the colours even though they don’t quite go 🤣

The school holidays are almost over and 'The Heart & Home Studio' is another step closer to opening.

So… hands up who is ready for the kids to go back to school?

I think you’ve all earned some 'you time'. Time where you can sit, switch off and get yourselves together.

And that’s exactly what I aim to bring to the table from the middle of September.

The first of our 'creative workshops' will take place mid-September. One where you can come along, have a cuppa, meet some lovely people, learn something new and, most importantly, make something you can actually take home and say 'I made that'.

No experience is needed. No pressure to be “arty”. And absolutely no one will judge your artistic abilities… despite years of pouring, I still have my off days and because I’ll be right there making a mess too! 😂

I want these workshops to be relaxed, fun and a chance to 'switch off from everyday life for a couple of hours'. More details will follow when I've finalised the list of who, what & when 😀

Oh, and before I head off to get busy here, if you’ve got a creative skill you’d love to share at a future Heart & Home Studio, you know where I am… 😉

September is going to be a creative one! ❤️

What a morning.

I can now laugh at my earlier misfortune however, I assure you, I definitely wasn't at the time.

Up early as I had a lot to make before heading to the shop. In I goes, sets out the oils, measures them out, preps the area, glasses, thermometers, wicks etc and sorts the cooling box. Yes - way to go me, all on track.

Now pour ........................... and NOTHING.

Out comes the heat gun, melt any residual wax, get covered in splashes, clean the tap ........ still NOTHING and the whole time, I'm standing there with £££££££ signs flashing in front of my eyes and panic starting to rise - what's wrong, it's never happened before and all while the splashes and bits I'd scraped harden on me and then I noticed, there's no light.

I must have accidentally knocked the off button last night when I was cleaning and there's me, standing there, cuddling my machine, pushing with all my might and trying to get the melted wax which was still absolutely solid to pour out ......

Only me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

A wee introduction and update for you 😀

Many of you already know me as the face behind Nyla's Dreams Aromas, where I've spent the last few years hand-pouring home fragrances and sharing my love of beautiful scents.

Now I'd love to introduce you to my next adventure... Welcome to 'Fi's Heart & Home'

This has grown from rediscovering my own love of crafting. Over the past few months, I've realised just how much I missed creating, learning new skills and spending time making things by hand. That passion has inspired me to start crafting again and to create a welcoming space where others can do exactly the same.

'Fi's Heart & Home' is all about creativity, community and connection. Whether you'd like to try something completely new, rediscover a hobby you've not picked up in years, or simply spend a few hours with like-minded people, there'll be something for everyone.

We'll be hosting a variety of workshops including wax melt making, jewellery making, wet felting, dry felting, embroidery, sewing, crystal art, decoupage, tulle wreath making, demonstrations and so much more, with new ideas being added all the time.

I'd also love to hear from other creatives who'd like to share their skills. If you'd be interested in running a workshop or demonstration, please get in touch.

You'll also notice a little change on social media. Rather than trying to juggle two separate pages, I'll be bringing 'Fi's Heart & Home and Nyla's Dreams Aromas' together here. It means you'll still see all of my home fragrance creations, but you'll also get to follow this exciting new journey, see what's happening in the studio, discover upcoming workshops and meet the wonderful creatives involved (ai helped capture exactly what I wanted in the pic).

Thank you for supporting me through every new chapter. I genuinely couldn't do this without you, and I can't wait to welcome you into 'Fi's Heart & Home'.

Here's to creating, learning and making memories together all while keeping both the shop front and workshop smelling beautiful. 💕
