🖼️ A golden oldie from the archives for attention! A rare snap of Jason having enjoyed some indoor cycling, me not so much!

☹️ Bad news: Jason is under strict instructions to take it easy the next couple of days. So there is *no workshop activity tomorrow*.

We've called in some reinforcements to help catch up before reopening Wednesday. I *think* I've been in touch with everyone affected. If I've missed you, I'm sorry - I'm on all of the duties.

☺️ Good news: "take it easy" isn't part of my vocabulary, so we'll be open for bookings, sales and enquiries 9am to 4pm tomorrow, Saturday as usual.

📢 We are really sorry but we will be closed tomorrow, Friday 29th May.

🥼 After several hours at the big hospital today, Jason has to return tomorrow for a small surgery. He does need to have a general anesthetic, so I'm on driving duties. Its not life threatening, so he hopes to be back on the tools Saturday. We will keep you posted by all the methods we have.

☎️ We're working late tonight to catch up on today and are calling around tomorrow's bookings to rearrange. So, if you've missed a call from us, please call us back to avoid closed doors disappointment.

🎉 Happy New Pie Day to us!

When we talk about supporting local, Kenny dispatching a couple of fresh out the oven pies for wir lunch unexpectedly, isn't at all what we mean. But we are most definitely here for it!

🎖️The guys Arbroath Fisheries sit at the top of our Cullen Skink chart for their pure luxury, so thick you can stand on it, slight step away from the traditional soup. And these pies might just have won them additional commendations!

🐟 When I tell you they were full o' fish, I mean they were hoaching with smokie *and* yella, and guid hunks o' tattie, and creamy goodness wrapped in crisp pastry topped with melty cheddar to boot. The perfect pitstop snack - read mini meal - for your long ride.

This is Angus. He feels like velvet. He's got the dog equivalent of Arnie's legs. A gentle giant. And he was a welcome wee distraction from the busy we are just now when popped in today. Now he has your attention:

We are fully booked.

Rammed.

Stowed out.

There is no room at the inn.

And it's bloody wonderful, but we're taking an extra wee day to ourselves Tuesday 2nd June to enjoy some of the sunshine your bikes have been so excited about lately.

🤯 We're so busy looking after your bikes, we have little space in our calendars/heads to take on the task of hosting regular rides as long as we remain a team of just two (and big Az).

*But* we will continue supporting the efforts of others encouraging cycling in it's varied forms, as best we can.

👭 We first had a conversation with Susan about a women's road riding group a few months back. Susan has ridden with clubs previously and wanted to start something a little more relaxed. For women. Kelly is keen to do more road riding and very much likes relaxed. We're both qualified ride leaders who know there are women out there who want to ride only with other women. So, we're teaming up to bring you Stronger State Sunday Socials.

☕These weekly rides are about improving confidence on the road. Getting out on the tarmac and enjoying it. Conversational pace. No woman left behind. And *always* planned around a coffee stop.

🎉 Happy New Bike Day!

Connor is relatively new to road cycling. He'd bought himself a starter bike and has fallen in love! Looking to upgrade his ride and his riding, he did that thing you do and fallen down a hole of internet searching and found a super sexy super aero racing machine at a really good price. He came to us to see if we could get it him.

We could, but as an independent retailer, we simply couldn't match the price. It happens. Often.

But Connor wanted to buy locally. So we talked about the riding he's doing now, and the riding he hopes to be doing in the future. And we gave him options, including the aforementioned aero number. We explained the differences, the similarities, the pros and cons of each of the options taking into consideration his wants, needs, budget and even his preferred colour choices.

On realising the super aero number was in fact much too much bike for him (it happens, also often) he's gone for the Giant TCR. Which means he'll be rapid up and down and all along a' the roads. He's saved himself some money and body swerved the suggestion he's "a' the gear and nae idea" fae his pals.

It's been mad busy at the Bike Chain, so there's been little opportunity for photos. And I had planned to share with you a bit of our weekend of decompression to fill the socials void.

But, while out on our walk this morning, we met a couple of Aussie sisters visiting Scotland on a bit of an ancestry research trip, and of course we got chatting.

And like us, they were awed by what we have right here on our doorstep. The cliffs, the Abbey, their accommodation, and most of all, the people. They're yet to sample a smokie because yesterday's smoke had just been shipped off to London, but it's on the cards today....

"There's a real sense of Arbroath being a 'place', unlike Edinburgh, which is just so touristy."

Anyways, there's something about that. People making a place. And that place being real. And despite Marv's being head to toe covered in 🦊 💩, we continued our walk in the sunshine with some very big smiles.
