Ashby de la Zouch Town Council is applying for the reaccreditation of Purple Flag status for the town, and your views can help.

As part of the process, we're asking residents, visitors and those who enjoy Ashby's evening and night-time venues to complete a short Night Time Economy Perception Survey.

Something a little different coming to Ashby Library 🐍🦉

Fudge & Co. Animal Encounters will be visiting on Saturday 22nd August, 11am–1pm — and it's completely free.

Ever wanted to meet a millipede, stroke a skunk or have a staring contest with an owl? This is your chance. Fudge & Co bring hands-on, interactive encounters with a huge range of unusual species — all ages welcome.

Tapas & Wine Flights
Wednesday 19th August from 6pm. Small plates, a resident sommelier, and wine by the glass and bottle. Booking advised, some walk-ins welcome.

Quiz & Fizz
Friday 4th September, 7pm. £10 per person (max 4 to a team), includes a glass of Cava, Prosecco or Beer. Prizes for the top 3 teams.

Wine Tasting
Friday 18th September, Friday 30th October and Friday 27th November. £40pp including a cheese platter. Note — the August date is already sold out so don't hang about.

What a morning at the Tourist Information Centre. 🐕🦁

Sir Zouchie joined the team from Guide Dogs Midlands and East for the Guide Dogs meet and greet on Saturday — and it's fair to say he made a few new friends. A lovely event supported by Ashby BID and the Tourist Information Centre, and a great turnout from the community.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to the Guide Dogs volunteers for bringing such brilliant dogs to Ashby. 🐾

Pets Ashby de la Zouch are preventing our communities pets from going hungry 🫶🏻

Their dog & cat food donation parcels are situated near the tills and are packed full of food and treats.

You’ll also find the opportunity to donate if you have the means, with monetary donations added to your purchases if requested

Today the Rushton family will say their final goodbyes to Nick.

For those unable to attend the funeral for Nicholas Rushton on Friday 14th August at 3pm, the Hearse will be travelling up market street at 2pm for those wishing to pay their respects.

As a local councillor, businessman and landlord he did so much to build the town up.

He will be sadly missed by many. Rest in Peace.
