Ever wondered what “hygge” actually means? 🕯️

It’s a Danish word (pronounced “hoo-gah”) and there isn’t really a direct English translation, but it’s all about cosiness, comfort and slowing down. Think soft lighting, warm blankets, good company and nowhere you need to rush off to. The Danes have leaned into it for years, especially through their long, dark winters and it’s a big part of why they’re consistently ranked among the happiest people in the world.

With the nights drawing in already, it feels like the perfect time to start bringing a bit of hygge into your own evenings.

The candle-making diary is officially full for 2026, thank you to everyone who’s booked in! 🕯️

So I’ve opened up the diary for 2027, with sessions running from February. Grab your friends, your family, whoever you fancy and come and make your own candles with me in the studio. It’s a proper “switch your phone off and just enjoy yourselves” kind of evening, and you’ll walk away with something you’ve made with your own hands.

Sessions are private, just for your group (2–4 people), £48 per person.

It’s the perfect excuse to get a catch-up in the diary after the January slump, a lovely thing to look forward to once the decorations come down or a gift with a difference for someone who’s impossible to buy for this Christmas 🎁

Every single one is hand-poured right here in the studio at the Ferrers Centre. It’s just us, melting and pouring small batches at a time. We pride ourselves on our artisanal approach. Every product is vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and devoid of parabens and phthalates, ensuring a pure and guilt-free indulgence. Our commitment to quality means nothing goes out the door unless it’s exactly right.

Our autumn collection is no exception and is all about capturing the season. They are warm, comforting fragrances that make a house feel like home the second the nights start drawing in. Each one is tested and tweaked until it’s just right before it ever reaches the shelf.

We know, we know, it’s only October. But if you’re anything like us, you’ll want your festive shopping sorted early, with no last-minute panic.

🕯️ Thursday 17th December is the last day to order online for Christmas delivery

🛍️ Thursday 24th December: the shop will be open until lunchtime, so there’s still time to pop in to the Ferrers Centre for those final gifts (or a little treat for yourself, we won’t tell!)

Well, this one’s a bit special… 🕯️✨

I’m really proud to share that Clive of Clive’s Candles has been accepted as a member of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, the UK’s most established trade association.

Members are thoroughly assessed before they’re accepted, so it’s lovely to have the work that goes into every candle and wax melt recognised. It’s a real honour to sit alongside cabinet makers, blacksmiths, thatchers and stoneworkers, people who care about doing things properly. That’s exactly how I’ve always tried to work: small batches poured by hand here at the Ferrers Centre.

A huge thank you to every one of you who’s bought a candle, popped into the studio, joined a workshop or shared a post. You’re the reason this little business keeps growing. 💛

☕ Happy International Coffee Day! ☕

Our Black Coffee candle is a double espresso with a shot of caramel, rich, roasty, a little bit sweet and exactly the kind of smell that makes a room feel lived-in and welcoming. No caffeine jitters and it never goes cold. 😄

It comes as a candle or wax melt, if you’re a melter rather than a burner. Handmade here in the workshop, as always.

(Apparently estate agents swear by the smell of fresh coffee for house viewings too… so if you’re selling up, consider this your secret weapon. 🏡)
