Spokes and Laces prepared the athlete whilst Barn Cyclery prepared the machine that provided the ride for Sue Satchi's fantastic performance at the National 24hr Time Trial.

The Spa Cycles - Touring Bike Specialists - Harrogate Elan has proved the perfect bike for audaxes and Sue's latest event.

Sue came to us wanting a bike fit and then regular servicing, and has now become part of the Spokes and Laces team.

After some great feedback last time, the Audlem O-Ring (Mk.2) is returning for the Whitsun break. As before, there will be 2 routes for keen walkers, joggers and/or active people of all abilities and ages to take on.

The SHORT COURSE is approximately 6km (depending on navigational choices) and has 4 control points to find in the local area. It would be ideal for beginners to orienteering and young families.

The LONG COURSE is more challenging than its previous incarnation at around 14km in distance - again depending on the chosen route. It has 5 control points.

We will still be linking up with Pau Run and Ride who have kindly agreed to act as the start and finish point.

You will need an OS Map (Explorer 257) or the OS Maps App for navigation between points, as well as footwear appropriate for footpaths, bridleways and towpaths. Those attempting the long course are encouraged to take some food and water as they may be out for a couple of hours or more.

The control points will be in place from Friday 26th May until Friday 9th June - giving everyone 2 weeks in which to have a go at either or both courses.

Ensuring your bike gets the attention and work it needs is important. Every bike booked in for a free safety check, service or any other work goes through a 30 point inspection list. We'll note any issues, give you an estimate of time and cost, and can advise the best course of action where needed.
What's more, you'll have your own copy to give you a bike service history.

Below is a message from a local cyclist, runner and dad. Please take the time to read, like, comment and reshare to raise awareness of the need for as many people as possible to consider getting swabbed and being in the register. Thanks.

We have recently become friends with Pete as his son plays for the same football team as Jake. He was diagnosed with blood cancer a few years ago and has spearheaded a campaign to raise awareness about life saving blood stem cell treatment. He has not yet been able to find a match for himself but other lives have been saved . The below is the latest campaign which has recently got some celebrity backing. If anyone has ideas for spreading the word please shout.

We're hosting Audlem's first Earth Day Spring Clean on Saturday 15th April!

As one of Community Hubs, we will be leading a group of local volunteers to collect single use plastic from the public spaces of Audlem. We'll also be feeding our findings back to TFT who are working hard to change business and governmental approach to the use of plastics in packaging.

If you'd like to offer one hour of your time, please turn up at 0915 at for a 0930 start.
