I’ve been putting this one off - perks of writing the posts: you don’t have to be in them! However, it’s time. It’s me, Charlotte, hi πŸ‘‹
You’ll usually find me behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly - social media, admin, diaries, as well as pottering around the shop making sure it’s generally organised and chatting too much to unsuspecting customers!

Outside of all things carpets and flooring I’m a mum to two humans and a cockapoo. In the little time that leaves me, I enjoy a good walk (especially one that ends at a pub!) and I’m rarely seen without a cup of tea to hand, which, controversially, I take strong AND milky - it is a thing!

β€œDo I need to replace my underlay with my new carpet?”

Short answer… Yes! πŸ‘‡

Good underlay helps your carpet feel softer, last longer, and even improves insulation - both heat and sound!

It’s incredibly important when it comes to getting the longest life out of your investment, you wouldn’t buy a new car and then reuse your 10 year old tyres would you?

Our personal favourite is Axfelt - a three layer underlay made predominantly of wool, meaning all the heat and sound insulation you get from your carpet, you’re getting again from your underlay! It’s also super eco-friendly as it uses up waste wool from the carpet industry and the bottom layer is made from recycled lorry tyres! You’ll notice the difference between this and the foam stuff that turns to dust!

Additions like underlay is something we’ll always guide you on in store or as part of our free measure and estimation service 😊
