Stubbylee Community Greenhouses is an award winning community focused project based between the beautiful parks of Stubbylee and Moorlands in the Rossendale valley . It is a hidden gem with a thriving community who work together as a team to impro

ve the health and well being of people from all walks of life. Our Charity “The Bacup Consortium Trust” was set up in 2005 by a group of local residents who wanted to improve the quality of the local environment and create a community asset within the council’s park facilities. Over time our organisation has grown into a leading Health and Wellbeing hub thanks to the support from major funders : The National Lottery Reaching Communities, The Tudor Trust, The Manchester Dioses Community Fund, Awards For All, Santander Community Fund , D’Oyly Carte Community Fund and Garfield Weston. With the guidence of our trustees and long term partnerships, we have worked hard to create a sustainable economic model which ensures that the vital services and activities we provide are here for the people who need it for the long term. Our mode of work is holistic, encompassing delivery partners from across education, primary and secondary health care, social services, local business and third sector. We really do grow good stories. Our Ethos is : For all participants to help each other to create a calm safe place where we can thrive.

Hi everyone,

We're on the lookout for a few roles at Stubbylee Community Greenhouses. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, these are the stars we're looking for:

Kitchen Assistant - assisting the chef and general food preparation with some general cleaning. Hours can be arranged to suit your availability between 10am-3pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Front of House - cafe staff for taking orders, preparing hot/cold drinks, serving cakes, and assisting customers when required. Again the hours are negotiable between 10am-4pm Wednesday-Sunday.

All training will be provided and you'll get a qualification in food hygiene and first aid on top of the experience gained.

The best part of volunteering here? You'll be working with the rest of our wonderful volunteers, some of whom have dedicated years into building this into what it is today! Make your mark.

Last week, our friends at Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing held their first Beacon Stubbylee Dementia Hub!

It was a fantastic turnout! This is an event catered not only for the sufferers of dementia with activities for them, but also for the carers themselves with activities, cuppas, and chats.

Feel free to pop along to the next hub on Tuesday, 11th August. If you're caring for someone with dementia or know somebody who is, pass this along to them, it may just be what they're in need of!

On the back of the previous post, we must also admire and appreciate the work RHS SILVER AWARD WINNING Darcy Owen-Towe has put in. The backyard to the café has really taken shape, as you can see in the photos and they're all growing absolutely stunningly!

It's that time of year when we can truly see the amazing work our volunteers do! With the help of rain and sun, we can see everything growing really well this year and starting to flouring. All the fruits and vegetables that we grow here for our café having the time of their lives this time around!

What are you growing? Comment with photos of your gardens, let's see how everything is coming together.

As some of you may be aware, part of the Beacon plan was to open 3 dementia hubs over 3 years, with an independent evaluator gathering feedback throughout so we can see the true impact.

Our Rawtenstall hub has been up and running since September last year and during that time we have supported many people affected by dementia, whether they wanted information, signposting, or just a listening ear.
The evaluation suggests that this has been hugely successful.

So now it's time for number 2!
We can't wait to work with the team at Stubbylee, we hope this will make our service more accessible to the people living in Bacup and the surrounding areas.
