SEPTEMBER’S BOOK IS SENSE & SENSIBILITY!!!! I thought it would be fun if we all read it in September so we are PREPARED for the movie adaption coming out in October! 🌾 This edition of S&S was published in 2011 for the book’s 200th anniversary and is edited by . It’s STUNNING, and I’m thrilled to add it to my collection.

This is our 12th ever box, and as an anniversary celebration, every single item will be exclusive to The Austen Box. I am working with some incredibly talented people and I’m SOOO excited 🥹

My note in the August box 💌
If I’m made to pick a favorite Austen, I always say Persuasion, and if people ask me why, my answer is almost always, “the yearning.” I am so excited to introduce you to Ashna and Rico in this modern day Persuasion retelling by Sonali Dev. Sonali’s writing is incredibly evocative, and the way she builds the backstory of these two characters and their families is masterful. The story I love becomes even more rich somehow, and the chemistry between the two main characters is *chef’s kiss*.

Recipe for Persuasion is a feast for the senses, so I built a box meant to ground us fully in the story. I’m thrilled to partner again with Diaspora Spice Co. to bring you a sampler of some of the flavors Ashna and Rico work with, and of course, what’s a cozy reading session without a candle? Plus, it’s another double-book box! Happy reading!

The August box is in transit, so let’s recap the July box together, shall we? 🧡🌿🧁

Mansfield Park is so special to me, so I knew I needed to make a box that celebrated F***y Price and her courage and intelligence. I loved these pocket quotes from Kate K with Austen witticisms and this BEAUTIFUL magnet from Art by Tamri . Mansfield Park feels very much like a summer novel to me (especially with this gorgeous Penguin Deluxe Classics edition), and I loved the idea of these cupcake toppers from Bad Bat as part of a summer tea party. I had so much fun picking out a quote for our exclusive Austen Box mug (🤭) and have been enjoying having my tea out of it. And then of course, I FORGOT to take a picture of this fabulous sticker by She Said It | Stationery with one of my all-time favorite Austen quotes, but I promise it was in the box!!!! All together, this box feels whimsical and hazy but wise. I hope you have been enjoying it!!! 🧡🧡🧡

The June Box 🪭🩷📚

I realized I completely forgot to feature all the details from our June box, which featured BEHIND FIVE WILLOWS by June Hur (허주은) . This book is a love letter to literature and the people who preserve it, which is SO important in this day and age. It’s also a beautiful Pride & Prejudice retelling about courage, honesty, and seeing past what you are taught. I loved including an homage to libraries with this coaster from Kelly and a reminder of Lizzie Bennet’s bravery with this pin from All Little Cute Things . I’ve been keeping some of my journaling supplies in this beautiful bag from Insight Editions . Plus, I had a fan made just for us by a family-owned business in Alabama to keep us cool in the summer months and remind us that we are all (regardless of gender) obstinate, headstrong girls. 🩷
