Thingummies, Fused Glass by Anne Welcome to Thingummies! This is a hobby for me, but more and more people have asked to see what I do so here it is. Often a second firing is needed.

Each item is designed by myself and handmade in glass. They are then kiln fired, usually between 750 and 816 degrees centigrade for between 6 and 8 hours with at least an 8 hour cooling period. Fused glass is notoriously difficult to photograph. Hopefully you will learn from comments as they are left that the pieces are far nicer in real life than the photographs show. Photographs also struggle to

represent the colours accurately. Each item is unique and variations in colour are to be expected according to availability of glass. I love working from ideas that friends give me and at the moment simply provide pieces for friends and family . The car designs, fish bowls and the 3 panel scene of Plymouth came about this way. Perfect for a friend or family member in need of a pick me up or just a reminder that they are loved. Each heart is unique, created by a casting technique, where individual pieces of glass are slowly heated to melting point. A second firing ensures each unique piece is beautiful smooth with a high shine finish. Hearts vary in size but are typically around 6cm wide. £10 (£15 including 'Harold the Heart Holder stand') UK postage £3.85 1st class, £3.20 second class.

Hope and her pixies did well for a first simple trial. The coasters need a bit of work to straightened them up and another firing to polish them up. For those of you who know how expensive millifiori is, I haven't lost the plot with the bottom piece! I bought them off Amazon or Etsy I think but they are definitely not COE 90 so I just fused them altogether and made some earrings out of some bits. Should have known the price was too good to be true! I feel some pretty pendants coming on.

At last! A day to play with Thingummies' new kiln, Hope, and her pixies. Let's see how well behaved the new team is overnight. Skye had to check everything out first of course. It's a very basic firing with some test pieces so nothing too taxing for them. Thank you Kilncare Ltd for delivering all the way up to Aberdeenshire!

Good news on the new kiln front! Unfortunately it arrived with a damaged shelf so I've not been able to use it yet. ...

Good news on the new kiln front! Unfortunately it arrived with a damaged shelf so I've not been able to use it yet. The replacement arrived yesterday, in time for hopefully a day or even two off next week. As every glass artist will appreciate I'm sure, the excitement of it arriving in this box, which even without the shelf in it, is still full to the top with packing chips is almost as exciting!
