What started as a routine renovation uncovered far more than expected.

Thermography played a key role in identifying issues that weren't visible to the naked eye, helping build a clearer picture of the property's condition before renovation work continued.

Using thermal imaging, we identified:

- Heat loss throughout the property
- Poor insulation around windows and within the roof
- Cold surfaces associated with damp and mould

Thermal imaging cameras can also be used to identify live wiring and potential electrical faults, making them a versatile tool for both building diagnostics and electrical inspections.

To support the investigation, a thermohygrometer was used to measure humidity, surface temperature and dew point. Combined with the thermal images, these readings helped identify areas at risk of condensation and moisture-related problems.

This project highlights that thermography is about far more than identifying heat loss. It can be used to investigate damp, assess insulation, identify potential electrical faults and support comprehensive building inspections, helping uncover issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Take a look through the case study to see how thermal imaging and environmental measurements worked together throughout this renovation.

We stock a range of professional thermal imaging solutions from Testo UK and Hikmicro Industrial, available online and in our Bangor showroom.

Anton Sprint giving inconsistent O₂ readings?

Here are three common faults we regularly come across when servicing Anton Sprint analysers.

This isn't a guide to repairing your analyser yourself, but it may help you understand what could be causing the issue before booking it in for service.

👇 What's the first thing you check when an Anton Sprint's O₂ readings don't look right?

Damp and mould issues often start where you can't see them. 👀

Tools such as moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras help identify problem areas early, supporting faster investigations and more informed decisions.
The Testo 860i combines thermal imaging with smart reporting features, helping professionals document findings clearly and efficiently.

Ireland's new planning exemptions for qualifying modular homes could have a much wider impact than just the construction sector.

As more homeowners consider self-contained garden homes, annexes and modular accommodation, the focus won't just be on how they're built.
It will also be on specifying the right heating and hot water systems from the outset.

Every project is different, but choosing the right solution early can make installation simpler, improve efficiency and deliver better long-term performance.

Whether that's:
• Instantaneous gas water heaters
• Compact gas boilers
• LPG solutions where mains gas isn't available
• Flueing and installation components

It'll be interesting to see how these planning changes shape the modular housing market over the coming years.

Are you already seeing more enquiries for modular or garden room projects? We'd be interested to hear what installers, developers and contractors are seeing on the ground.
