Today I’d like to introduce you to two of the new flavours we are stocking from Blasus Welshcakes in collaboration with the Excalibur film:

*Cherries, Brandy & Dark Chocolate
*Chocolate & Toasted Almond

Excalibur is a multi-million pound fantasy feature film being created in Wales, by Wales. It is rooted in Welsh mythology and tells the original story of King Arthur, the Sword of Power, and the wizard-bard who taught him.

The partnership brings together Blasus’ passion for Welsh heritage, craft and food storytelling, alongside the cinematic creativity of this ambitious fantasy film.

The last delivery, I didn’t even get a chance to photograph them before they had been snapped up, so if you’re interested grab them whilst they’re here!

Calling all Horrible Histories fans - this week’s Book of the Week is especially for you!

Read all about it!

History’s most horrible headlines - the Wales edition: Horrible Histories Wales

Written by the inimitable Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown, this book is crammed full of sensational stories and foul facts. Great for keeping the young historians in your family entertained this summer, and a fun read even for the not so young among us!

Our Book of the Week for this week is My Way to Welsh by Heini Gruffudd

I have been learning Welsh, tiny bit by tiny bit, for over 20 years, using a variety of methods. I went to classes at Bangor University and passed the Foundation Level of WLPAN. I have also found Say Something in Welsh to be very effective for me, but finding the time for that at the moment is a bit of a struggle. There’s lots that I have picked up informally across the years too. I understand far more than I can speak - I am certainly lacking confidence in that department! One method I haven’t really explored is learning from a book, which is a bit ridiculous really as I stock so many brilliant dysgu Cymraeg books that are quite literally an arms length away as I’m sat typing this in the kiosk! So, I’m thinking of giving this book a try.

My Way to Welsh is a complete Welsh course for home learning, broken down into 90 parts. Starting with the basics, then developing vocabulary and using sentence patterns and verb forms in the present, past and future, the book covers a wide range of different scenarios and contexts. And there’s even a mini dictionary and a guide to grammar.

Sounds like what I need!

❤️ Thank you so much ☺️

Rachelle is a whizz with wool and her colourful crocheted octopuses are available to buy across in the Friends Of Bangor Garth Pier kiosk, with all proceeds going towards the pier.

So, biggest question, what should we name him?!
