An old mirror with a story still clinging to it.
A beautiful, weighty early 20th-century oak wall mirror, approximately 70 × 45cm, with a striking octagonal form, deep Greek-key detailing, raised wooden bosses and a substantial bevelled mirror plate.
The reverse tells its age just as well as the front — timber backing, aged metal hanging hardware and even fragments of its original paper price label remain.
Comparable oak mirrors with bevelled plates and similar detailing are generally dated to the early 20th century, with closely related examples attributed to around the 1910s–30s
It hasn't been stripped or made to look new. The marks, patina and subtle ageing of the glass are part of what has survived with it.
Approx. 70 × 45cm
£155
A proper statement piece, and one I'm rather fond of.
