Snow even settles on the toll bridge at Penmaenpool.

A flock of Oystercatchers follows the rhythm of the tides, moving up and down the Mawddach Estuary as the water ebbs and flows.

"Tidebound", was taken on a still February evening in 2025, as the last light of the setting sun caught Coes Faen, better known locally as the Clock House, and the mountains beyond, while the birds swept across the calm waters of the estuary and over the bridge.
I chose "Tidebound" for both the front cover of my inaugural 2027 Barmouth Calendar and as the featured image for the month of February inside.

A few weeks ago I announced my first-ever Barmouth Calendar.

I genuinely didn't know what sort of response it would receive. Thank you to everyone who has already ordered a copy.

The photograph I've chosen to share this morning is January's image, "Winter Harbour," photographed at dawn on 5 January 2026, just as an overnight snowfall came to an end.

While the summer weather is still trying to get going, we’ve been busy creating our first Verdun House Gallery calendar for 2027.

Featuring twelve photographs from around Barmouth, the Mawddach Estuary and southern Eryri, it includes a number of previously unseen images alongside some old favourites.

Calendars are now available to pre-order online or in person at the gallery.

Orders will be available for collection, or posted out, during the first week of December.

Being able to hike to these kind of views from my front door is such a luxury.
This is the view across the Mawddach estuary across to Barmouth and beyond to the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales.

North Wales at its finest!
The view looking across the Mawddach estuary to Barmouth and beyond to the Llyn Peninsula. Taken from the flanks of Tyrrau Mawr, part of the Cadair Idris range.
Hiked it from Barmouth and back and only saw many sheep, lambs and the farmer.
A wonderful spring day in southern Snowdonia/Eryri.
