What is fairtrade? Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices, fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more
control over their lives. Fairtrade standards comprise both minimum social, economic and environmental requirements, which producers must meet for socially responsible production and trade. What is our mission? Victoria's Emporium is a small business with a strong ethical policy at its core. We aim to buy from small-scale businesses who use largely natural materials and traditional techniques to produce beautiful and interesting articles. All our products are fairly traded as we believe that the best way to reduce poverty is through trade. We seek to support small producers and aim to help workers move from financial insecurity to economic self sufficiency. The manufacture of our goods generates income for local communities and we hope that these economic benefits enrich the quality of life for people within these regions. Help us make a difference...
Our small, family run business specialises in sourcing handmade, fairtrade and ethically produced products, from a variety of developing countries. The aim is to supply customers with high quality products, sourced from responsible and sustainable projects, which help local businesses and the economic development of poor and deprived regions around the world. Victoria's Emporium trades primarily at Barnoldswick and Preston markets, plus various other venues in and around Yorkshire and Lancashire.
