Hello - we have a lovely group of ladies who come to the Craft Space to sew every week or so. This group just developed organically from ladies who had been to other sewing sessions and decided they wanted to carry on...

We're called "Ladies Who Sew" ☺️

This week we've been making bog jackets out of blankets - we were sweltering having our photo taken in them!

We're meeting again in a fortnight to finish them off properly.

Then we're making either a bucket hat, or a pair of trousers - we've not decided yet.

We have space for one more person to join us.
It's just £10 for the session and either bring your own fabrics or buy them from the shop.

We usually meet on a Thursday around 3:30.

It's only £5 for a 2 hour session (2 sessions each date)
There will be various crafts - refreshments and - a "prize every time" tombola/raffle where loads of fun kids prizes can be won

Thank you everyone who has volunteered to read this for me. I am so overwhelmed with the amount of interest I've had.

I have now got enough readers, but thank you anyway to all of you 🥰🥰🥰

Well... this is a bit different (and scary)! 😊
It's not about sewing, fabric or crafts for a change...

For the last few years I've been quietly writing a novel - (yes a novel!) - alongside everything else, and I've finally reached the point where it's finished! 😳🙄😁

Right, this is where you lovely people come in.......

Before I decide what to do next, I'm looking for a handful of people who enjoy reading to read it and tell me honestly what they think.

I'm not looking for people to proofread it or hunt for spelling mistakes. It's just that I've read it so many times now that I could probably recite it in my sleep! What I really need are fresh eyes. I'd love to know whether you enjoyed it, whether it kept you turning the pages, and if there was anything that didn't quite work for you.

I've written loads of sewing books, but this is my first novel, so it's a little bit scary letting other people read it!

Here's a little synopsis...

1985.
Eighteen-year-old Gabrielle is pregnant, living alone on a run-down estate and desperately trying to hold her life together. With little money, a fractured relationship with her parents and an uncertain future, every decision feels impossible.
As she fights to build a life for herself, Gabrielle discovers that growing up isn't simply about choosing a path—it's about living with the consequences of the choices we make, the people we lose and the memories we carry.

⚠️ A little warning... It is a bit sweary and rude in places, so if you're easily offended it's probably not the book for you! 🙄

This is an update to my previous post - I recently closed my books for a few weeks so I could catch up.

I told everyone who came in with work , to come back on 1st July.... That was last week. And in the few days since I have taken in over a month's worth of work! 😵‍💫🤯

So.....

I'M CLOSING MY BOOK AGAIN UNTIL 17th AUGUST.

This means I won't be taking any work in - AT ALL - till then. That includes leaving work with me.

I'm sorry everyone, but I'm only one person 😔

We finished our Fairy Houses on Monday. It's amazing to see them, all made to the same templates, but all looking so different. They have been taken home to be varnished when they're completely dry, and I hope to get pictures of them (please ladies 😁) when they're finished.

I've been asked to put on similar air drying clay session, and gingerbread houses has been suggested - what do people think? And any other suggestions???

Our next session is making a patchwork bag - which starts tomorrow. There's still a couple of places left if anyone's at a loose end (it's always lovely and cool in the shop) 😁
