I absolutely love weekends like this one. First off, Happy 55th Anniversary to John Norris of Penrith. A shop that is cemented in the UK's fly fishing scene.

The weekend started with 34Β°C heat and swimming in the river to cool off as it was way too hot to fish. Saturday saw me sat tying next to some of the best fly tyers and the craic was top tier.

Thank you to everyone who took an interest in the saltwater flies some good conversations about saltwater and pike on the fly.

The evening saw Rodrigo Salles giving a talk/presentation on fly fishing for various species including Golden Dorado, Vampire Fish and Peacock Bass in the Amazon jungle. Untamed Angling

All in all it was a fantastic weekend. Thanks to Ben Tinnion and Wading Waters Ltd for having me for the weekend.

Oh! And! To end it on an even bigger Raymond Rainbird Flyfishing and i had a couple of stunning brownies from a cumbrian river.!!

A River 20 Pike!! (104cm)

I started abit of a campaign after a river pike after giving it lots of thought over 5 years.

I started fishing rivers for pike late last year with and and both of them have seen pike in that time and everytime ive been staring down the barrel of a blank. And when conditions have been good ive been working.

Finally, the last weekend before the end of the coarse river season Stu and I headed out and the levels werent exactly "playing ball", after clambering and sliding down steep banks on the other side of the river to fish the deep margins, we reached a spot that we knew was around 9ft deep.

I was stood on a fallen tree trunk. Back casting over my left hand side to get the fly where i wanted it. Few strips, BANG. Stu was watching with the net "just incase" and he just said "jesus what a monster!"

She absolutely nailed it the fly out of no where

The SkyG 9ft 8wt was put through its paces and held up to this brute of a mama! And teamed with the it definitely stopped fish!

Now that the monkey is off my back and 2026 is off to a good start lets see what the bass and trout to say.
