Name that pig….. Competition alert 🔔

As most of our avid followers know, we’ve set up shop at Deepdale Garden Centre. And we now have twice the space, whoopie. It’s our first year anniversary so we thought we’d splash out on this fabulous BIG Pig, photo below. He’s waded into the main shop and settled himself amongst the seed potatoes and bulbs. He is life size and made in England by a uk metal artist. As you can imagine he’s a heavy Porker, and needs two people to handle him.

We love him and he’s quite the talking piece but we think he needs a name. Our first suggestion is Trotter? Perhaps not quite right.

In the same style we have a pair of cockerels and two standing herons, all weighty. Like all our heavier items the team do provide a delivery service locally and can place or position your bulky buys, where required. Please ask at the cash desk

We’ve been asked numerous times for true stone troughs, bird baths and sundials. Two out of three isn’t bad 💝

These lovelies are hand carved, Yorkshire stone, a beautiful colour and heavy, (believe me). Would look stunning in any garden. The sundial is our favorite, does look really substantial in ‘person’.

Now at our garden centre spot. Please don’t touch as they are heavy, but definitely ask if you need some help. The team can deliver, locally and place where required.

Thought we’d share some customer photos. Lots of pots reused, reloved and back on the roof, for perhaps another 100 years or so. Even had one displayed and used as a water feature, far superior to our little water garden.
Chimney pots and salvage are history all wrapped up. If only these items could tell stories of time gone by; the places; the people and knowledge they’d share.

It’s brilliant to know that these particular pots have a second chance, to stand tall and proud again.

Haven’t posted in a little while, so thought we’d show you our weekend efforts.
We’re always wanted to create with our salvaged, reclaimed items and this was our lovely water feature, made over the bank holiday weekend.
Items used;
Swarf trough; (been with us for a few years)
Several bargain corner chimney pots; (chipped, gnarled and cracked)
Reclaimed water pump; (lovely one, Colin spruced up 🥰)
Pond plants in baskets from our favorite Garden Centre;
Plus pond Lilies and Iris plants donated by a friend. Thank you 🙏

What do you think? Pretty cool for a pair of novices 😳😁

Metalwork has been the job of the week. We’ve been busy restocking the wildlife and it’s a heavy job.
These woodland/farmland creatures are made from huge, weighty steel plates, cut on a plasma cutter and prepped ready for their new forever homes.
There are foxes; chickens; hedgehogs, dogs, mini chucks, baby hogs; plus three designs of hearts and more cats to arrive soon.

We are constantly working on other designs; complete with the signature florals.

Getting up early for a trip to Sledmere ‘posh’ Car Boot sale, Sunday July 13th
Looks a lovely setting, can’t wait 😁😍 x

This is probably one of the poshest Car Boots you will go to with around 100 stalls selling a range of antiques, vintage items and collectibles.

Sunday morning and we’re feeling fine. It’s going to be a bright, sunny day.

Lots to do in the Garden or just while you’re time away.
We love these type of days; because you nearly always start to potter and end up with a quick jaunt to the garden centre for a bag of compost; a plant to fill a gap in the border; a little treasure for a quiet corner or some BBQ coals for a family tea.
The best kind of days. 🥰😁🌞

🖼Gallery One - Out of Place, paintings by Paul Collinson and Steve Upton. Steve's work depicts the out of placeness of the mass-produced and everyday object in the urban landscape whereas Paul's show human attempts at relating to the pluralism in our world where there are no apparent absolutes.

🧵Artspace - The Space We Fill - an exhibition of textiles and mixed media by Nolitex. The Space We Fill asks - What is a space? Where are the spaces? Who fills the spaces and why? And through its work, the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire-based group, Nolitex, explores these questions.

🍃Box Gallery - Hannah Nunn. Originally from Leeds, Hannah found great inspiration in the countryside when she studied Crafts at Carmarthen College in West Wales. Supported by an Arts Council grant to develop her hand-cut paper lamps, Hannah spent many months cutting, sticking, thinking and sketching. Thus, the first Hannah Nunn lamp was born back in 2003.

💍 Jeweller of the Month - Catherine Woodall. Initially, Catherine studied engineering followed later by art and says that for her, making jewellery has been the happy combination of these two disciplines. All of Catherine's jewellery is handmade in her workshop atop the Pennines surrounded by nature which is her main inspiration.

We went on a little road trip yesterday to pick up some treasurers for you.
Our packed space at Deepdale Garden Centre is open six days a week, so you can browse; pick up some salvaged & quirky pieces; plants; coffee and cake.

Did you know we are now snuggled inside Deepdale Garden Centre, open six days a week. 🌞 This rural garden centre has lots to offer, cafe; plants; pots; Kadai fire bowls; gifts and cards too.

If you weave through the garden centre you’ll find the packed salvage and reclamation space behind the tunnels, there’s a lovely view over the field behind, where you can sit and contemplate your garden plans & purchases. 😊💭
