🌿 We LOVE seeing where our plants end up! 🌿

One of our lovely customers, Maggie, has sent us these photos of her garden — and just look at those coleus! 😍

What a fabulous explosion of colour. Rich reds, lime greens, burgundy and pink, all jostling together and looking absolutely magnificent.

Maggie also added the rather wonderful comment:

“Best garden centre for healthy plants.” ❤️

We couldn't really ask for a nicer compliment than that.

Thank you, Maggie, for sharing your pictures with us — it’s always a real treat to see plants that started their journey at Deepdale thriving in their new homes.

👑 ALL HAIL KING BILL 👑

We sent our glorious leader off to Autumn Fair to find exciting new things for Deepdale.

It appears to have gone to his head.

Within hours, Bill had found himself a turf throne, surrounded himself with flowers and even acquired a loyal hound to sit faithfully at his feet.

While His Majesty is sitting comfortably, we have been busy hunting down some rather lovely new ideas for Deepdale.

Long live King Bill — and his loyal hound! 👑🐾🌻🌿

We had a message from Amy at Amy's little Book Shop, saying she was going to be hiding books in and around Barrow/Barton for the children to find, with clues being given out on social media. The child who finds the book, is free to take it home to read and then re-hide it if they wish.

We so loved this idea we partnered with Amy to hide some gardening and nature books for children to discover and develop their joy of reading.

For the last few days, Bill has been wandering around Deepdale quietly singing “Pretty in Pink” to himself.

We were beginning to wonder why.

Now we understand. 😂

Just look at them.

Hundreds of gorgeous cyclamen have arrived, filling the plat area with pink, cerise, red and white — and we have to admit, they really are rather fabulous.

Perfect for pots, containers and sheltered spots, cyclamen are a brilliant way of bringing a burst of colour to the garden as summer begins to give way to autumn.

So this Bank Holiday Sunday, perhaps it’s time to add a little Pretty in Pink to your garden. 🌸

And should you spot Bill amongst them, humming happily to himself…

Please don’t encourage him. 😂

🌿 Gardeners’ hands deserve a Bank Holiday too…

They’ve spent the summer digging, planting, pruning, weeding, watering and occasionally doing battle with something particularly thorny.

So perhaps it’s time to give them a little pampering. 🙌🌸

e’ve got this rather gorgeous RHS hand-care collection at Deepdale – created with gardeners very much in mind.

There’s refreshing Wild Rhubarb & Mint, with rhubarb, mint and softer notes of wild rose, and the beautifully floral White Blooms, inspired by an English flower garden. 🌹🌿

The hand washes gently clean away the evidence of a day in the garden, while the nourishing hand creams help leave hard-working hands feeling soft, smooth and rather more civilised again.

🌿 A little bit of pampering has arrived at Deepdale…

We spend an awful lot of time pampering our plants, now we can pamper ourselves.

We’ve some gorgeous new soaps, hand creams, lotions and wonderfully scented treats in the shop – including Cotswold Lavender and the rather fabulous Naturally European range.

There’s soothing muscle rub for those of us who have spent rather too long digging, hand cream for hands that have been planting and pruning, beautiful soaps and plenty of lovely things that smell considerably better than even the finest compost. 😂

Perfect as a little present for a friend.

Even better as a present for yourself.

🌿 THEY’RE BACK! Hurrah! 🌿

Two of our most popular little ceramic houses have finally made their way back to Deepdale — our gorgeous greenhouse and “Garden Shed – My Happy Place”. 🪴🏡

They sold out last time, and we’ve been waiting (not terribly patiently) for their return.

Perfect for anyone whose happy place involves pottering, planting, propagating… or simply hiding in the shed with a cup of tea where nobody can find them. ☕😂

They’re back in stock now at Deepdale — but given what happened last time, we wouldn’t hang about!

And yes, we are rather pleased to see them again. Hurrah! 💚

🪴 Give your pots a little mid-summer love 💦🌸

After all this hot, dry weather, our pots and containers have been working very hard — and they could probably do with a little TLC.

💦 Keep watering well. Containers dry out remarkably quickly in warm weather. A saucer underneath the pot can really help, catching water that would otherwise simply run away and giving the compost more chance to absorb it.

🌱 Top up the feed. Remember that those “feeds for the whole season” are released as we water and as temperatures rise. After such a hot summer, much of that fertiliser may already have been released, so your plants could benefit from an extra feed to keep them going.

✂️ Give tired plants a haircut. If summer bedding or perennials are looking a little past their best, don’t give up on them!

Deadhead spent flowers and snip back tired growth.

With some water and feed, many patio plants will reward you with a lovely fresh flush of growth and flowers.

There’s still plenty of summer left — so water, feed, snip and revive! 🌺🌿
