NIT GATE 🐜

You know how I like to keep things real here parenting 3 kids 5 & under & so it would be remiss of me to not share…

*picture this*

It’s the night before the pop up, it’s been gruelling loading / unloading / setting up. I get home at 8pm, have some dinner & start getting the kids ready for bed. Our big girl comes & sits on my lap, she gives a really big doubled handed scratch on her head…

Me *jumps up* ‘why did you just scratch your head like that?’
Her ‘my head really itches’
Me *lifts the hair by her ear* ‘ADAM! There’s nits!’

I literally ran to Asda & at 9pm I was waking my children up to give them the full treatment which I then made them sleep in after a very tough comb through (it’s hadn’t spread just on the one child thank god 😂)

I THEN made Adam do his beard (he has no hair on his head, but you know you can’t be too careful!) & do my hair (preventative!) I slept in the treatment & had to wake up at 5:30am to wash it out & dry my hair in the kitchen without a mirror as to not wake anyone up 🤪

So my loves, if you encounter nit gate - know you are not alone in this hell & here is what I did to eliminate the baddies:

First nit treatment, if you check the ingredients all treatments are basically the same & all come with a comb but there can be £10 different between them! We used Asda’s own at £5.50.

Spray & set for 30 minutes & then section the hair & comb through. Get all those dead bodies out & eggs (I’m making this sound easier than it was, a crying 4 year old who said it kept hurting & was flipping her head around 🙄)

Sleep in the treatment & wash out the next day, comb through again for anything you missed.

Get the Vosene Kids Head Lice Prevention spray for £2.50. This is also conditioner so use this for the days following to comb through to protect all your hard nit removal work.

REPEAT FOR A WEEK

WARN EVERYONE! I swear all the Mums think I’m a lunatic anyway but sending this picture to them all at 10pm on a Friday solidified it 😂 It spreads like wildfire! So tell everyone, don’t be ashamed! Because it will come back if someone misses it.

Everywhere We Grow x Baby Basics Hinckley 🌵💜

We’re so excited to announce we have partnered with the incredible charity Baby Basics - Hinckley Branch to help them with their invaluable work they do supporting families in our community.

Today we dropped off a moses basket & 3 baby baths to help with thier referrals which they have coming in thick & fast.

Baby Basics is a volunteer lead charity who support new families who are struggling to cover the basics for their baby. There is no judgement, there is only support.

Rachel & her team are open at the Hinckley Methodist Church for donations 10-12pm on a Tuesday. We know however sometimes this can be tricky if you’re working etc, so if you have a Moses basket / baby bath or any new toiletries you would like to donate we will be a further point of donation in Barwell, I will collate & then do drops off to them 💗

At our future pop ups we will also have a box for any toiletries donations 🥰

Often baby basics are donated items which are unsuitable to be used for their cause, these items will now be winging thier way to our pop ups to continue their life being kept out of land fill & serving our community further 💝

Im literally so excited for what we can achieve together & so thankful for Amie in reaching out to us 🥹

EWG Crew 🥰😍😭💗🌵

Oh my goodness Barwell!! What a DAY! 🥹

Absolutely overwhelmed & so grateful for all of you who turned up to support our £1 clothing special pop up, did you all grab some bargains?! 😍

A HUGE thank you to the best insane EWG team ever, how lucky am I to have such a gorgeous group of gals who are vital to delivering the pre-loved dream - I just couldn’t do it without them! (Not forgetting Adam & Disco Dave who did an insane job of loading & unloading!)

EWG is a family affair, I do it all for our kids & it’s so important to me for them to see what we’ve built & be a part of our story too (even if they do just run around the hall & get toilet seats stuck on their heads 🙄 if you remember that 😂)

The girls who help are family to me & sometimes the family you choose for yourself is the most special 💗

How much did we all miss my Mum today? She continues to live her best retired life in the Isle of Wight 💙

& of course, to you all for KEEPING to show up come wind, rain or shine! (& today I think we had all of those - can you tell from my hair? 🤪) it means so so much to me, honestly wish I could just stand & talk to you all, all day it’s so lovely to keep seeing so many beautiful returning faces 😍

So now, we’re going to take a little extended break so I can pull myself back from the edge 😂

& then we will be back in… RUGBY! 👋🏻

Oh HIYA Rugby remember us? We’ve been working super hard to find a new venue to return & we’re SO excited, more details to follow 💜

£1 Clothing Pop Up… READY!! 🛍️

It took 8 cars, 1 van & 1 LORRY to get everything here, to say this is our biggest pop up EVER would be an understatement 🤪😍

For any newbies…

🌵Come through the main entrance of the GWC off Stanley Street.
🌵Walk through the centre towards the toilets, the sports hall is located through the double doors next to the cafe.
🌵Have your tickets ready on your phone, you will be scanned in & given your shopping bag.
🌵The room - starts on your right with 0-3 months proceeding round.
🌵Toys / accessories etc sit across the back right wall with all rails directly in front of you in age order starting with bedding ending with 5 years+.
🌵All large objects are located in the middle, alongside shoes & books. Don’t forget one free book with each ticket! (Extra one’s 50p!)
🌵The cash desk is located in the left hand corner & you will exit through that door, the path leads onto the back carpark.
🌵It is CASH or PAYPAL ONLY.
🌵The amount you pay at the cash desk is final. If you are unsure if the amount is correct, we will happily add it up again for you - we’re only human 🥰 please note once you have left the pop up nothing can be rectified.
🌵If you can keep the rails & boxes as organised as you find them I’ll be forever grateful, as will everyone shopping after you 😍
🌵We have our large play area in the left hand corner, with a hatch open for drinks, biscuits. Have as much as you like! 🍪

We have the MOST insane amount of clothes coming to our pop up on Saturday, every single rail is STACKED out, PLUS we have 2 replenishment rails & 10 large check bags of clothes that we haven’t been able to hang due to no further space.

Every single clothing item is £1!🚨£1!🚨£1!🚨

There are no exclusions, we haven’t taken anything out, from jeans to coats, all in ones through to shorts & tees. It’s all just £1! Big named brands from Zara to JoJo, Ralph & Tu, H&M to Boden you name it, we’ve got it!

So this is where I need your help…

I please need you to come & bring your pals, your pregnant mates, your family & grandparents & grab yourself an incredible HAUL, don’t hesitate for £1! Because we literally are at bursting point - my marriage depends on this 😂😂

A Dads Holiday vs. a Mums Holiday 🙄😂🍺

It’s ok - I don’t like personal space in raging heat 🥵🤪

This is my reason for my pre-pop up silence, so sorry! ☀️

Honestly though, I could not have needed this holiday more.
I was seriously on the edge of burnout. I know I seem to have this juggling thing nailed but truly it’s all an act, the longer it’s been since I’ve returned to full time work alongside the pop ups & everything else the more full on it feels. I try not to think about it all because deep down I know I’ll never sleep for the panic of trying to be the best for everyone & everything. So please - don’t look at others & compare yourselves on what they are doing because truly, we’re all just trying to survive out here as Mums together 😘

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge what burnout & parental burnout is & how important it is to know the signs & when it’s time to get help.

Burnout is a state of physical, mental & emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged, unmanaged stress. Recognised by WHO as an occupational phenomenon, it drains your energy & motivation, leading to cynicism, reduced performance & a feeling of helplessness.

Parental burnout is a state of severe physical, mental & emotional exhaustion caused by the relentless demands of parenting & a lack of recovery time. It is a recognised syndrome, distinct from everyday stress, that leads to deep fatigue, emotional detachment from your children & feelings of ineffectiveness.

If you are feeling any of the above it’s SO important that you seek help & advice on how to be supported from your GP as your starting point.

You haven’t failed, you’re doing an amazing job - it’s ok to ask for help 💜

I know we don’t all have the luxury of a holiday (we saved for over a year, why are they so expensive?! 😭) anything that can give you a moment away from the madness will help 💗

Love languages 💜

11 years ago when my Brother got married in his grooms speech he spoke about how we aren’t an ‘I Love You’ family.
You know we don’t say I love you to one another. Never have. We just aren’t that type of family.

He explained it didn’t matter though, because we know we are loved through actions. He went on to tell the story of how one summer holiday while we were at our caravan our Dad spent a whole week making him a tin man outfit for the Haven Tiger Club fancy dress competition. Measuring it to size, cutting all the cardboard pieces out, covering each section in tin foil & hanging them with stringing to give seamless movement when being worn. He of course went on to win first prize & i’m pretty sure that costume still exists in my Mum & Dads house 😂

He knew in that moment our Dad loved him through his actions.

Since we bought EWG 2.0 to you my Dad has been racking his brain trying to figure out a better way of how we can make our rails stronger & sturdier to withstand the loading & unloading & last week he turned up to my house with this rail - an EWG 2.0 ready rail. He’d adapted the wheels to be higher & stronger.

To this day he’s only ever told me he loves me once (when I first travelled with work & was about to board a plane to Bangladesh which made me seriously worried that he thought I wasn’t coming back 😂😂) but it doesn’t matter, because he shows me through actions like this that he does 💗

& it got me to thinking - our pop up sales are all about love.

We love what we do, you love coming to find bargains, we’ve grown a community of love.

I watch so many beautiful relationships full of love around the pop up & it makes me so, so proud.

I just love, love 😭🥰

This is my body…

I’m showing you her (scary 😂) because I want you to look at yours differently…

If you were raised in the 90s/00s like me then you’ll know the size 0 era & how we grew up listening to Kate Moss ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ It was tough out there! We’ve all developed a very warped image of our body’s & what they should be.

My body has sure seen some things & you know what - I’m FINALLY starting to kinda like her.

It’s taken 38 years to say a positive thing about my body. Isn’t that wild? WILD.

Don’t get me wrong, right now I could give you a detailed list of everything I don’t like, from the sack of weird fat that sits at the top of my thigh, my indented stomach, thigh stretch marks, arm jiggle, cellulite legs, droopy tiny boobs… it’s all there ingrained in my mind.

Because that’s what we’ve been taught as women, to pick at ourselves & others.

Well I’m here to tell you ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

It’s weird, just recently - the more I think about her, my body. The more I’m just so bloody grateful for everything she’s survived.

A switch has been flicked & finally I can see that yes, there’s things about her I would change. But actually I’m not going to subscribe to the narrative any longer that only one type of body can wear certain things, achieve greatness or be seen as beautiful.

What’s beautiful is our bodies right now. In a world where skinny is back & body positivity seems to have left the building let’s take stock & remember everyone is different. Thank GOD! What a boring existence if we were all the same.

The most important thing, whatever your body shape - is that you are comfortable in your own skin. The only person you have to answer to is YOU.

Girls PLEASE, look at yourself & tell your body what you’re grateful for.

& if you won’t listen to me, here’s the wise words of Baz Lurhmann…

‘Enjoy your body, use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it. It’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.’

We’re raising the next generation of girls & I’m going to give them the confidence to be themselves no matter what 💜

Because us women, supporting one another we’re unstoppable 👯‍♀️
