We love volunteering for the charity Re-engage 😍

We hosted a lovely tea party this afternoon for our beautiful bunch of older people living alone in our community ♥️

As we get older, our social circles diminish, and we find ourselves with fewer and fewer people to turn to. Imagine realising one day that all your friends and family have gone from your life… Loneliness can be cruel, and it affects millions of people over 75 who live in social isolation.

Re-engage is making life less lonely for thousands of older people every year.

Their tea parties are monthly social groups open to people aged 75 and over, and give older people regular afternoons of conversation and laughter with friends of all ages.

We have been volunteering for the last 9 years & are so thankful we’re part of the team that keeps the group running. However we are struggling with hosts.

Could you:

♥️ Host 10 older people in your home.
♥️ Have a downstairs toilet.
♥️ Have easy access.
♥️ Love to chat.

Barwell!! 😭😭😭😭

You are record breakers!!‼️‼️‼️

Oh my goodness I can hardly believe the pop up we had today!

Firstly - (& I’ve had to track back) this is the most tickets we have sold in THREE YEARS! 😱

Secondly - this is the most people that have turned up after buying a ticket 😱

Thirdly - we sold the most Christmas & Halloween EVER! 😱

Fourthly - we had the biggest selection of pre-loved goodies to date (7 car loads & 1 lorry FULL!) 😱🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚙🚗🚚

One of our lovely regulars who popped in the last slot said ‘I can’t believe there’s still so much left!’

My body is actually throbbing it’s insane haha.

A HUGE thank you for everyone who came & supported us today. So lovely to see new faces & our fantastic regulars. We appreciate it was a little more manic than usually so we will ensure moving forward we limit the tickets in each slot to ensure for a smoother browse.

I’m forever in their debt & literally could not do it without them, I could burst into tears thinking about all their efforts🌵

I need to give a special massive shout out to my Brother Jack who drove all the way up from Welwyn & back in one day to help us load / unload & set up yesterday. With Adam having been so poorly we really couldn’t have done it without him. It’s the first time he experienced EWG so not sure whether he’ll be back or not haha 🤪

We are absolutely BURSTING at the seams! 😱

We have NEVER had this much, ever, ever, EVER! 🫣

Top tips:

🌵Come through the main entrance of the GWC off Stanley Street.
🌵Walk through the centre towards the toilets, the sports hall is located through the double doors next to the cafe.
🌵Have your tickets ready on your phone, you will be scanned in & given your shopping bag.
🌵The room - starts on your right with 0-3 months proceeding round.
🌵Toys / accessories etc sit across the back right wall with all rails directly in front of you in age order starting with bedding ending with 5 years+. We have had to add boxes alongside the rails for overspill!!
🌵All large objects are located in the middle, alongside shoes & books. Don’t forget one free book with each ticket! Additional books 50p each.
🌵The cash desk is located in the left hand corner & you will exit through that door, the path leads onto the back carpark.
🌵It is CASH or CARD ONLY.
🌵The amount you pay at the cash desk is final. If you are unsure if the amount is correct, we will happily add it up again for you - we’re only human 🥰 please note once you have left the pop up nothing can be rectified.
🌵If you can keep the rails & boxes as organised as you find them I’ll be forever grateful, as will everyone shopping after you 😍
🌵We have our large play area in the left hand corner, with a hatch open for drinks & biscuits. Have as much as you like! 🍪
🌵Please be kind with our wonderful community & to our fabulous volunteers, we are running on a tiny team so really appreciate your patience.

It’s been a week 🫣😭

Adams been really poorly since Friday & on Tuesday night we ended up in A&E until 5:30am. At 6:30am I swear after literally just closing my eyes our 3 children we’re standing at the side of our bed like Chucky & The Kray Twins ready to start causing chaos 🤪

Thankfully Adam is on the mend, after solo parenting for almost a week - I’ve survived (just 😂) AND…

I’m just obsessed with this little old pre-loved life, I love sharing it with my children, family & friends. I love getting up early for fresh air, a bit of exercise, meeting new people & finding weird & wonderful things. I love keeping things out of landfill, sharing a story of an items past & seeing it go to a new home. I love bargain hunting, finding gems that you didn’t know you needed & yelling to anyone who asks ‘I got it at the car-boot sale for £1!’ I love running EWG, being a part of this sustainable family & meeting like minded people. I love this community & I love all of you for the support you have shown us over the last 5 years.

Exactly 2 years ago at 11:30pm I had one of those dreams where I wet myself & then waking up I was in fact wet! Assuming it was a new low of my pregnancy 🤪 suddenly it dawned on me my waters had broken…

I waddled to the bathroom & sat alone for around 20 minutes just bump & me taking a moment for what was now happening. I was scared. For the whole 9 months of my pregnancy I could barely comprehend that we would be so lucky to have this baby, bring him or her home & into our family.

I couldn’t bring myself to find out their gender because I was too terrified that if something happened I’d have known too much. I had counselling every week for 8.5 months to get me to this stage. Every single day I thought I was going to loose this baby, that we would never even get close to this point which was now in fact happening.

I woke Adam up & after no joke about 7 poos (an alarm was going off internally to everything in my body ‘EVACUATE!!’🚨😂 IYKYK) we set off for the dreaded car ride clenching everything 🫣

We arrived at the hospital at 1:30am & she was born at 2:30am 💕

As soon as I saw her & they placed her on my chest I just knew that every single thing we’d been through was worth it. Something clicked & I just felt complete. She was here, she was ours, she was everything I had wished for & more.

And now tomorrow our perfect P is going to be TWO 🥹

Thank you beautiful girl for healing me in ways that you’ll never even begin to understand, for completing our family, turning everything upside down & becoming the most sassy, cheekiest girl EVER. You’re the best 💝

For any of you struggling with a difficult pregnancy, PP anxiety / depression or more, I see you. It might not feel it now but you WILL get through it - you’re not alone. PLEASE reach out for help ♥️

Here we are, post placenta / pre-stitches 🤪😂
