The south of France, Provence is as beautiful as ever, been a while since i have been back there on holidays for the first time inter railing, after Uni with my first boyfriend , exploring St Tropez struggling with back pacs.
It was as beautiful as i remember, we flew to Marseille and hired a car to our air b n b in La Ciotat, where we explored the calanques, a name for the narrow inlets along the coast, that provide shelter and turquoise calm waters, the beaches are quite pebbly and uncomfortable, but forgiven for the stunning rock formations and diverse landscape, covered with pine trees for shelter. A lot of this area is protected by the national park, and the area is full of stunning scenery.
Cassis is a pretty small town, with an easier beach to get to with a great beach bar and views of the stunning Chateau de Cassis, perched on the edge of the cap Canaille cliffs overlooking the town, brimming with history above the azure blue sea.
We ate at a cool restaurant outside Marseille .club on tables scattered on the rocks, with the cool above that shows off stunning sunsets while sipping cocktails.
Our air b n b was situated down a typical french street with a beautiful courtyard sheltered by olive trees and areas to sit and dine, the interior was quirky and beautifully laid out and easily sleeps 8, with a flight of 1.40 hrs it is a destination i will surely return to.
