It's a bright labyrinthine space where book-related chatter and advice seems ever-present and you never know what you might encounter next, from claw-foot bath book displays to toilets illustrated by Chris Riddell. We opened our shop in 2006 and it has twice been named the UK's best independent bookshop. In 2015 the Guardian named Mr B's one of the ten best bookshops in the world.

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the wonderful Alix E. Harrow, to Bath for the release of her new book, The Slantwise Histories.

Alix E. Harrow is the author of many of our team’s favourites, including The Ten Thousand Doors of January, The Once and Future Witches and most recently, The Everlasting, which will publish in paperback this October. Now Alix returns with a fantastical collection of stories old and new: tales about tricksters and ghosts, ordinary magic and mundane spectacle, all in the tradition of Angela Carter, Anne Sexton and Carmen Maria Machado.

Alix will be in conversation with Tasha Suri, award-winning author of Empire of Sand, The Jasmine Throne, and more recently The Isle in the Silver Sea.

We are delighted to welcome the brilliant Patrick deWitt back to Mr B’s for the release of his new novel, Dodge City.

Why’s Rohan hanging out in a tree, we hear you cry? Well it’s because we’re thrilled to welcome award-winning writer, illustrator and land justice campaigner, Nick Hayes to Bath for his new book, The Medicine Tree!

From the bestselling author of The Book of Trespass (a huge Mr B’s fave), and co-founder of the Right to Roam campaign – advocating for public access to nature in England – comes a beautifully illustrated, and deeply felt exploration of the struggle between ownership and belonging in England. The Medicine Tree sees Nick living and working among an extraordinary community of farmers and craftspeople, as he contemplates what we have lost and how we can re-enchant our relationship with the land.
