I wasn’t sure what to write as a ‘welcome post’ to this page, but Facebook says I needed one, so here goes with a typical Lizzy ramble…
The Bookshelf Birstall has arisen from myself (Lizzy, hi!) becoming aware of the insane mark up most shops have on kids books, craft supplies and stationary. After some quick maths at the wholesalers, I realised some books were retailing for over 5x their cost price, which just doesn’t sit right with me at all.
As a kid I LOVED books. I loved reading, I loved visiting the library, I loved crafts, I loved the book fairs at school, all of it. So to think that there’ll be other kids out there who could be just as obsessed as I was, but unable to own their own new books due to the ridiculous costs of some of them, I decided it was time to do a thing.
The Bookshelf Birstall is that thing! I will be installing my first bookshelf packed full of lovely (but affordable) books available to buy at Daisy’s Play Centre next week, but I’m on the lookout for any other businesses / venues that might want to offer a bookshelf to their customers too.
Items will also be available to purchase online with free postage on orders of £5 or more currently available.
