Crafters Wanted!

It’s coming up to that magical time of year once again! We are excited to invite fellow crafters to join us by renting a stall at our upcoming Christmas Craft Fair on November 15th.

If you’re interested, please send me a message with details about your craft speciality, accompanied by a photo or two of your creations. Let’s come together to celebrate the season and the joy of creativity!

As in previous years, we will be fundraising for a meaningful cause by selling homemade cakes, teas, and coffees and organising a tombola. This year's selection is particularly fitting: The Hampden Park Craft Shed Project, run by Age Concern, Eastbourne.

This is a wonderful space where individuals over 50 can come together to freely pursue their craft or simply enjoy a cup of tea and a chat. It provides a secure environment for making new friends, exploring new crafts, and enjoying companionship.

The Crafting Shed offers a wonderful range of arts and crafts, including needlework, crocheting, and knitting, as well as mosaics, among many other options. There is also a kiln for ceramics and glassmaking, creating a warm and welcoming space for all creative interests.

The Shed relies on funding to maintain this project, with many of the crafting supplies generously donated by caring community members.

It's a truly wonderful initiative that can support community members' mental well-being by helping to reduce isolation and boost their overall happiness. Every town, village, or city deserves more spaces like this—somewhere everyone can feel safe and at home.

We had such a wonderful crafting day at Myrtle Wood! We truly appreciate everyone who joined us. Participants enjoyed trying out various crafts, like making spatulas on the shave horses, creating cordage from nettles, and making charcoal pencils with willow. We also dabbled in clay and plaster of Paris to make lovely plaques. For lunch, everyone enjoyed jacket potatoes with cheese, coleslaw, and fresh salad, followed by delicious cakes and biscuits. The weather was just perfect, and Myrtle's calm and beautiful energy made everyone feel so relaxed and happy.
