It’s only 75 days til Christmas!

I’m not entirely sure where this year has gone, and I’m not normally very organised this early…

But this year, I’m trying to be much more sustainable, which takes a little more planning as I’m determined not to buy ‘stuff’ just for the sake of buying something, so handmade, recycled, upcycled and more thoughtful eathkind gifts

The 2nd in our series of soap ingredients, essential for soap making to create the Lye solution.

We use simply tap water in our soap recipe, no filtering or plastic water bottles needed, so no waste!

And after a lovely long hot summer with very little rain water, the last few weeks have been more like the weather we expect in the uk

We’ve had a quiet summer on the soap making front, but it’s been packed full of playing with ponies and lots of outdoor time. But I’m happy to say our Etsy shop reopened yesterday, with horse and dog soaps available again for the next few weeks in the run up to Christmas

We are on day 9 of pony rehab tonight following Red’s physio treatment for a tight muscle in his back.

He’s supposed to be taking it easy still, but is very keen to get going! We’re taking it as a good sign he’s feeling better.

We’re hoping to be back out competing with him soon, which means our pony soap bars will be back in use.

A question we get asked a lot…What’s in our natural horse and dog soaps?

So I thought I’d create a series, starting with the most important one…

Coconut oil

This is the main ingredient in our horse and dog soaps bars, in terms of both the quantity- it’s the product we use the most of - and the quality it brings to the soap.

It creates a hard, long lasting bar of soap, that’s both moisturising and deep cleaning with lots of lather…Perfect for greasy, sweaty, horse and dog coats!
🌴
The coconut oil we use is food grade, but did you know that coconut oil isn’t particularly healthy for cooking due to it’s high content of saturated fat (over 80%)?

But it does make a beautiful bar of soap!

Plus coconut oil is entirely natural, vegan, and chemical free. It totally satisfies our family’s Earth-kind tendencies!

Oh I’ve been quiet on here the last couple of weeks, I’m so sorry!

We’ve been balancing a few things, including a lame pony, kids sports events, DofE and exam stuff, so social media has taken a back seat, and well, time flies!

But soaps are still available, gypsy vanner’s are a little low in stock, so that’s on my list for this week.
