🌿 A Walk Around the Garden Centre….Or drifting off… 😴
In the outdoor beds, the lacy white blooms of the buddleja have a dreamy air, the kind of soft bloom that could brush your cheek if you nodded off in the heat. Pure white hollyhocks are a ruffly pillow to sink into. Muted coneflowers with loose petals like drooping eyelids, tiny insects napping in the prickly amber cones. Newly out for sale today, Tamarisk is pink and wispy and the leaves create a naturally chilled microclimate by collecting humidity at night and evaporating it in the day. Snoozy, soft hues are a restful remedy on this hot August afternoon.💤

💥 A Walk Around The Garden Centre 💥 Fizz, Whizz, Bang, Pop! August is close, but the heat is even closer…. back from my walk around, and today had that slightly oversized feeling, a bit like James in ‘James and the Giant Peach’….”Everything was bigger than ever.” And the variety on show inspired me with that Dahl‑style fizz to it: frothy Russian Sage, buzzing Buddleja ‘Black Knight’, towering garden dahlias and Alcea rosea (hollyhocks), and the giant flowers of Lubega dahlias, jumbo leaves and heavy flower heads of Clerodendrum bungei, Crocosmia throwing out brilliant red bursts.… soon-to-be August, giving the borders that fully alive, almost storybook feel in the close heat. And yes! Peaches and apricots complete the scene, one fell conveniently into my hand….
We’re also preparing more reductions on the remaining summer bedding and basket plants. The current sale continues, with extra offers coming soon.

🌿 A Walk Around the Garden Centre - A calm look around today’s displays: groups of perennials set out together include Rudbeckia, Cleome, Tall Verbena, Lobelia ‘Starship’, Jacob’s Ladder, newly added Buddlejas (including the compact ‘Hot Raspberry’ and honey-scented ‘Pink Delight’).
One of the climbers on display is the Mexican Shell Vine (Cobaea scandens), a fast summer grower with soft green foliage and bell‑shaped flowers that deepen in colour as they mature.
We also have a stunning selection of bougainvilleas in full colour, and picture-perfect Euonymus aurea mini‑standards adding neat structure to the benches.
