It has been a busy weekend for Shear Wensleydale as yesterday I was honoured to be asked to judge the craft section at the Newton le Willows Village Show. It was a difficult but rewarding task as the standard was so high. Well done to everyone who entered.

Shear Wensleydale will be holding a Beginners Spinning course this Sunday 9th August at 10.30am till 4.30pm. If anyone would like to join us we have one space available as we have had a cancellation due to illness. Lunch and all refreshments are included, also a gift bag of goodies to take home to help you continue with your spinning journey. Please phone or message Chris if you would like to join us.

Shear Wensleydale have now got the next date booked for our beginners Spinning Course. This is to be held here at Elmfield House, between Bedale and Leyburn, DL81NE on Sunday 9th August at 10.30am till 4.30pm. The past courses we have held have been very successful and we are proud to have started people on their spinning journey. Everything will be included , coffee ,cakes, lunch all spinning materials , and a gift bag of goodies to take home . The price for the day is £120 . To book your place please ring Chris.

Today Shear Wensleydale welcomed The Ingleby Arncliffe Community Group. After sitting down for lunch in our Conservatory they learned about our Wensleydale Sheep and what we do with their wonderful fleeces. They saw a spinning demonstration and learned how we dye our wool and the products we produce. This included a talk on the techniques we use in producing our felted rugs. We thank the group for coming to see us. Some of our sheep came into the car park to bid them farewell.

Here at Shear Wensleydale we have been very busy shearing our wonderful Wensleydale Sheep. They are all feeling much cooler and ready for more hot weather. We are now very excited to start working with our beautiful fleeces and to teach how we make our gorgeous rugs. If you are interested in joining our next rug course please get in touch with Chris.

Shear Wensleydale hosted another Beginners Spinning Course on Sunday. We were joined by Sophie and Cloe from The Big Sheep Little Cow in Bedale. Judith came for another session and to collect her Spinning Wheel which we had been repairing. We had a very enjoyable day and they all spun lovely hanks of wool and also used the Carding machine to blend some beautiful colours to continue their spinning at home. They were able to try out the single and double treadle Wheels to see which they prefered.
Our next course will be a felted rug course, it will be a two day course on consecutive Sundays, and this would include half a day with Chris demonstrating how she dyes our Wensleydale wool, you would be dyeing a hank of wool to take home. If you are interested please phone Chris on :

We were delighted to host a highly enjoyable beginners spinning course on Sunday, led by Chris. Our thanks to Judith, Kitty, and her mum for joining us. They successfully produced beautiful hanks of yarn by the end of the session. Kitty has recently launched her new venture, Belle's Beasties, which offers animals for wellbeing,we wish her continued success in her endeavors.
Our next beginners spinning course is scheduled for Sunday, May 31st, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. This beginners course includes all materials, a complimentary goodie bag, lunch, tea, coffee, and cakes, at a fee of £120. We have two places available.
