🌶️ Ever wondered why commercial chilli growers spend so much time pruning and tying up their plants?
This time-lapse shows Claire and me working our way through Tunnel 1, carefully pruning and supporting hundreds of our super-hot chilli plants.
Removing the lower leaves and side shoots encourages the plant to focus its energy where it matters most – producing bigger, healthier crops of chillies. It also improves airflow around the base of the plant, helping reduce disease pressure and creating better conditions for successful pollination.
As the season progresses, these plants will be carrying an incredible weight of peppers. Without strings and support clips, many would simply topple over or snap under the load.
It's one of those jobs that's absolutely essential for healthy plants and maximum yields... even if it is a lot of work! 🌶️💪
