On the 2nd of September 1989 Volunteer Brian Robinson along with another volunteer attached to the 1st Belfast battalion "B" company Ulster Volunteer force.
Set out on a motorcycle travelling down the Crumlin road to locate their target Patrick McKenna a IRA member from Ardoyne
Upon finding their target Brian opened fire striking McKenna 11 times and killing him

As the volunteers made their escape back down the Crumlin road. Their operation was compromised
Unknown to them, a undercover British army unit was in the area at the time and gave chase in a car,colliding with them and forcing their motorcycle off the road

Brian was shot twice by a female soldier
Before firing serveral more shots to back of his head while she stood over him as he lay on the ground, Brian was unarmed whilst the soldiers carried out their controversial unjustified ex*****on

Upon hearing the news of her sons death Brians mother Margaret suffered from a fatal heart attack and sadly passed away
Both mother and son were buried on the same day and laid to rest at roselawn cemetery
