Do you know how to treat a snake plant right?

Our top tips for these spiky beauties:

💡Only water when the soil is dry. Use your finger to check it first. They will hate being over watered and being in too much humidity.

💡They don't mind some shade conditions and may even get longer leaves. In the wild you'll find them in dry savannas and in semi-shade in rocky, dry, open woodlands in West and Central Africa. Bright indirect light is best.

💡Use a gritty compost that is quick draining...like a cactus mix.

Did you know?

🌿If you have a broken tip, it won't grow any taller unfortunately.

🌿They can have white flowers...but in this country it would be rare to see one.

🌿They get pollinated by moths!

We think they look brilliant planted on mass in long planters, or as office dividers. With so many varieties to choose from you could quickly become a Sansevieria-plant-aficionado.

Have you got a plant that's become too big?

Chop it!!!!

We know. You've nurtured your green baby for so long that the thought of chopping a bit off freaks you out, but we promise it will be better for it.

That cut will help tame it, shape it and actually encourage it to grow more ..and in a better shape to fit your space.

It's better to do in spring, but if something is damaged, or dying, get it chopped off! If it's about to hit the ceiling or cause you to lose a family member, then tame that beast.

The Caryota Mitis - or Burmese Fishtail palm. A little bit bamboo, a little bit palm, a little bit fan-tail fish!

Their incredible fish like feathery leaves come out of long arching stems, making them real statement plants.

These are happy in bright indirect light and like moist soil (as long as it drains).

As long as you don't forget to water this will grow superbly well. Put lots of small plants together to get a lush effect. Great indoors and out.

Treat it well and it will scramble up or cascade down pretty quickly.

Another refresh in Astrid & Miu in Victoria Square. This time we've put in some statement bay tree lollipops surrounded by dark rich ivy. Plus some lovely lush and bushy umbrella plants.
