A new addition to the organ stock of Northern Ireland is this delightful chamber organ installed as a temporary instrument in Down Cathedral Downpatrick. There are 6 stops, G compass with 60 notes (no lowest G #) and a fine gothic case in oak.

Stopped Diapason Bass (to tenor B)
Stopped Diapason Treble (from mid C)

It looks all original and possibly built by Bruce of Edinburgh 1820s-1840s. It was in St Mary's CofE Sevington Kent in 1926 (as the bell ringers signed the back pipes), then moved to St Wilfrid's CofE Burnsall N.Yorkshire in 1963 by F H Browne of Canterbury. Chris Bagot moved it to St Joseph's RC Chorley in 2015.

A great showcase of talent today in Armagh. We are very pleased to support these young players.

Kirkpatrick Presbyterian Church Belfast -
Due to church building redevelopment we are urgently looking for a new home for this 1958 Conacher organ. It is in excellent condition with two 7-stop slider soundboards and two pedal ranks extended. A couple of ranks have been moved within to get more upperwork. There is a detached stopkey console and a light oak case.

Ballee Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church Co. Down - tuning today at this unaltered 1912 Dalladay of Hastings organ. First tuning in 9 years. It has some older Walker pipes incorporated inside but not from this church as it had a harmonium originally.

Down Cathedral, Downpatrick - we are privileged to undertake major work to this iconic organ widely regarded as one of the finest sounding instruments in Ireland. The double fronted case in the centre of the building was installed in 1802 and the interior replaced by Telford in 1854. Harrison & Harrison rebuilt it in 1914 and 1966 adding more each time. The present work involves much needed restoration of the soundboards and actions as well as updating the console and electrics. We are also adding Great Trumpet and Harmonic Flute stops as well as Choir mutations and Pedal Contra Trombone 32ft pipes.

This was a very satisfying week transforming the sound of the Harrison & Harrison organ in St Anne's Cathedral. Working alongside Nicholson & Co. Ltd and their head voicer James Atherton we have managed to get a more blended sound of the 1907 and 1975 parts of the instrument.

Today we tuned a residence organ in North Down which we installed in 2008. Two ranks extended to 4 stops per department and built originally by S J Harris of Buckhurst Hill Essex in 1979. Simple but effective design with the possibility of adding a Bourdon 16ft in the near future.

Late night tuning for a live broadcast tomorrow on Radio Ulster. It is 11 years since the grand opening of this organ by Jean-Paul Lècot in 2014. All is sounding well and everything still looking clean.

St Peter's Cathedral Belfast - Saturday 11 October 2025 at 15.30 the Ulster Society of Organists and Choirmasters are welcoming Simon Lole who will give an organ recital on the 2005 Kenneth Jones organ. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

We have tuned it today and plenty of photos can be seen of the organ and the interior pipes. A large majority of the pipes are from the previous organ by Pels of Alkmaar 1966 and the cases are by Evans & Barr 1917 brought forward and enlarged in 2005.
