We’re proud to share that Scottish Shellfish has partnered with Morrisons to develop a fantastic new recipe for its premium The Best range.

Scottish Mussels with Chorizo & Smoked Pepper Sauce bring a restaurant-quality experience straight to your home — using rope-grown mussels from the pristine waters of the Shetland Islands and the Scottish mainland.

This launch is the result of consumer research, which highlighted a clear demand for high-quality, convenient seafood. Many consumers told us they love mussels when dining out but feel less confident preparing them at home — so we set out to change that.

As Derek Sharp from Scottish Shellfish puts it:

Recently, teachers at a school in Glasgow, took a deep dive into Scotland’s seafood heritage with Seafood Scotland’s Seafood in Schools “Teach the Teacher” workshop.

The session gave educators hands‑on experience—from sustainable sourcing to cooking techniques, so they can bring confidence, knowledge, and passion back to the classroom and get the younger generation tucking into nutritious seafood from Scotland.

And the star of the show? Fresh, rope‑grown mussels supplied by Scottish Shellfish. Teachers learned how to clean and prepare them for simple, delicious recipes—unlocking tasty, nutritious, and affordable superfood that can be enjoyed by all the family.

Seafood Scotland’s initiative is all about empowering educators with curriculum‑aligned resources—covering nutrition, sustainability, career pathways, and practical cookery skills www.seafoodscotland.org

Great to see the press taking back the nonsense about Royals avoiding shellfish because of food poisoning risk. The risk is extremely low as modern farming techniques now allow for vigorous testing that improves product safety.

Mussels and Oysters are a superfood and this is what we should be shouting about. We should all be eating more of them to help boost our nutritional intake and help the environment.

Good piece of collaborative fight back from our industry!
