Eek! I made a mistake - I announced that the first bookclub back after the summer would be September but forgot to synchronise holidays with Alice. We’re both away! So no bookclub this month but we’re definitely back to it in October! Apologies for slacking off on here. It’s been a big month for me: we moved house and that’s been a bit all consuming but the good news is I only live 5 minutes away from the shop (and all the action)!

After a brief summer hiatus our events are back! First up we have Karishma Jobanputra with her incredible short story collection The Body of the Thing from And Other Stories. There will be fabulous food from Reunion Belper and it’s FREE to attend. It would be great if you could let us know you’re coming but you can turn up on the night!

What’s happening at Dormouse Books in September? On 15th we have Karishma Jobanputra with her incredible short story collection The Body of the Thing - published by And Other Stories. This is hosted at Reunion and FREE to attend. On 2nd September we have our monthly silent book club at Dollys. We also have our monthly book club at No 28. The book for 27th August is The Nights are Quiet in Tehran and for 24th September 1984

We’re open 11-5 tomorrow for the festival! We also have a stall on The Market Place selling books for you to donate to The Old Farm Bus youth club library (and we’re donating the profits in books too).

We’ve been part of the team organising the inaugural Love Belper Town festival- that’s happening this Sunday! It’s been 12 months of grant applications, fundraising, planning, gasping at the cost of insurance, first aid, security (and a whole host of other things)! And learning so much. Really hope to see lots of you there on the day to celebrate 250 years of Belper!
