Marc’s Friday painting update!

I said last week that 8 models was what I consider to be steady progress for a week. I also confidently stated that I would finish the last 4 French Napoleonics this week. Well then we had a heatwave so that didn’t happen! I did manage to finish 8 models in the week - just! TBH the only reason this happened is that 4 of them were Tomb Kings, which take about half the time of everything else!

So here are the 2 French and 4 tomb kings. I did manage something new though - Dr Who! Tom Baker is my Dr Who - I remember hiding behind the sofa on a Saturday evening when he was on! So I just had to get these great figures from Crooked Dice Game Design Studio , which may or may not be Tom Baker and Mary Jane! Might have a couple more models to paint, but I will keep you in suspense until next week!

Events Roundup!

We have a few fun events over the next few weeks - here's your summary!

Saturday 30th May - 10:00am - 3:00pm Learn to play: Magic The Gathering. Free open house to learn to play this popular Card Game

Saturday 30th May - 3:00pm - 8:00pm Board Game Evening. All welcome to join the team for an evening of Board Games. We have loads of games on our library you can join in with, including "Five Tribes", which we're adding to the library this month!

Saturday 6th June - 6:30pm - Blood on the Clocktower. This is a beginner-friendly session of this amazing social deduction game. We have a couple of spaces left if you fancy joining us - otherwise we have further sessions on 11th July (Beginner-friendly) or 1st August (Advanced). Booking required, please contact us for more info

Saturday 13th June - 6:30pm - the DG Quiz (summer edition). Quizmaster Leigh returns by popular demand with the usual collection of random questions and the ubiquitous "Kazoo Round"! Our quiz is family-friendly and definitely casual - we guarantee that none of our questions have ever appeared on "The Chase"!

Marc’s Friday painting update!

I shared last week that my general rule of thumb is that 8 figures in a week is good progress. Well this week I managed 14! The cool wet weather definitely encouraged me to spend more time at my workbench, although the outlook for the coming week suggests it might be somewhat different!

Anyway on to what I have been working on this week

I finished 4 more Napoleonic French. The end is definitely in sight for these now - another 4 next week and they are all finished. Just the small matter of 72 British/ Hanoverians to look forward to

I also finished the last 2 Dol Amroth knights, including the banner. I’m not going rush to do more of these until I have had a break from blue! They look ok though I think?

Other completed projects - you may recall a couple of months back I was bemoaning the fact that I was going to have to paint more 15mm crusaders? I finally bit the bullet and bought more. I managed to paint up 6 knights Templar this week, which completes these. I now have 24 spearmen to paint, which finishes the army. Expect to see the crusaders feature in one of my participation games soon!

Finally after a bit of a break I’m back on the tomb kings. I might make a concerted effort to get a few more of these finished in the coming weeks!
