sat 19th sept, a couple of squid off my philodendron cordatum’s and I’ll hopefully have a few baby monkey monsteras that I chopped & propped. shop open 10-3ish

this afternoon I had a huuumungous delivery of terrarium plants. because I can’t seem to decide on one date I’ve decided to host pop-up workshops in my shop whilst I’m open. this will be super casual, no need to book. starting from sometime next week - but more details on this soon.

summer sale is still on; with pots, kids books, lavender candles, notebooks, plant food and so much more

come say hi, get some ideas for xmas, talk to me about plants, bring me your dog or lurk creepily in my doorway. I accept all 💗

Quite possibly the most beautiful illustrated edition of The Secret Garden and I’ve not sold any??? shocked & disappointed

I’ve got two copies available, but one might sneak into my bag to come home with me 🪏🪴

what’s your favourite children’s classic you’d like to see illustrated? 🪱

I’m always on the look out for pretty books, and forever forgetting to shout about the ones I have in the shop already. I have quite a few adult ‘coffee table’ books, as well as a large range of children’s; with lift the flap books, to stories about nature and comics

I hosted my first terrarium workshop on saturday eve, and it was gorgeous!! a huge thank you to Amanda of .gallery for inviting me, it was a BIG learning curve and I left with notes 📝 & homework to improve for my next workshop.

so i’m just putting some feelers out there to see how many of you would be interested in attending one. it’ll probably be in the next couple of weeks, I’m thinking on a friday but please let me know if another day works better for you.

all of my glassware I’ve collected so far have been from charity shops, car boots, donated from friends. I’m big on my sustainability and love to cut costs, recycle and give things a new lease of life.
anything glassware - lid or no lid - can be turned into a terrarium so feel free to bring your own!

cost wise - I’ll have different tiers with a small terrarium starting at £15, larger terrariums using more soil & plants will be a little more. I’ll also have the choice of making an open terrarium (with succulents) and a closed terrarium (with more leafy numbers) 🌿

I did some themed gift bundles in the shop today with the c-word in mind, one word: hampers 🫣😂

I’m aiming to have little to no plants over autumn & winter, and instead focusing more on gifts. that being said there are lots of hidden gems in the shop, that even I often forget are there.

I’ve done some flat lays of gifts for the nature lover, the gardener, the junk journaler, the book lover and the self care girlie 💗

p.s I’ve had a huge top up of plant watering spikes in the shop & online. open 10am on sat 🪱

sometimes you make a mammoth mistake and buy in expensive, dramatic plants that die in your shop 🤦🏻‍♀️ my climbing begonia has been chopped up and is propagating in some moist sphagnum moss alongside zebra haworthia babies. I think I might be lucky! although the old leaves were wilting and dropping there was new growth 🤞🏻

my other begonia has also been chopped up 🫣 and is propagating with Lucy for Sunday Plant Club’s plant hospital 🏥 Sunday Plant Club

august in the shop 🪱

I loooved making this and looking back on a glorious month. august was a slow one let’s be honest, but I think every small biz is feeling it. I’m excited for september! however it’s gonna be No Spend September for me folks 😂 I could not fit any more stock into that shop if I tried!!

at the start of aug I found myself in the most wholesome collab with the ever so lovely Amanda (.gallery ) who has taken some of my plants to sell. collaboration aside, sometimes I’ll runaway from my shop and find myself in tweed gallery, usually with the excuse I’m watering my plants or wiping them down with my dust gloves but I love going in for coffee, gingerbread biscuits, chats with lovely people and cuddles from Juno the dog.

one thing I don’t think I ever mentioned was when I set up my shop (and online selling) I bought myself a label maker. well I’m quite obsessed with putting stickers everywhere, and also putting my logo on everything else. tote bags were an obvious must-have but after one complaint that I was getting through the paper cups of coffee 🙄 I promptly bought a reusable coffee cup off my shop neighbour Micks Sticks and Laser Engraving. in pink, of course

p**s cat and pigeons, dare I say more?
possibly the best best-sellers in my shop, but on the occasion that it’s been quiet I’ve been crocheting cardigans. of course the day I decided to crochet at the bus stop at the end of my road was the day an ambulance came along and stared at me for a good ten seconds. I’m fine… I think?

plants, which amazingly are doing great under their grow lights. I’m as shocked as the next person that I’ve only managed to nearly kill one so far.

that day in august that was Alison Ross Art shop launch and I bought £15 worth of greggs doughnuts and put myself into the biggest sugar coma ever. anyway go visit the hearth studio, I dare you

lastly, another hobby of mine is reading. and whilst I am sad I won’t be able to bring the luminaries into the shop (at 900 pages, she would be needing her own bus ticket) I’m fingers and toes crossing that sept will be busy enough that I won’t need to pick up a book or crochet a jumper. *slow wink*

some of the gorgeous new stock in the shop including these seed to sip cocktail growing kits, with glass (!!) cocktail shakers - a lovely gift for someone who likes growing plants & drinking cocktails 🍸 😉

also new are the tulip mugs, which hold a BIG MUG of tea or coffee ☕️ choose from ‘bloom & brew’, ‘you grow girl’ and ‘crazy plant lady’. each mug has a very cute ladybird on the handle 🥹

one thing that needs more love in the shop are the fold out cards by I’ve opened one up to show just how fun it is!
