The most common question at the moment is what is the river like at the moment?

Extremely Low and very slow. The water is still only 0.2m! Just 8 inches. It should be over a metre in depth and the flow rate should be over 60m³/s instead it is barely 9.

We are still waiting for that proper autumn level to emerge. There has been a small response higher up the Severn, and with further rain forecast across Wales and the upper catchment, there is a chance we could see more water working its way down towards us over the coming days.

Fishing wise, it isnt the normal standard and it is hard going for the barbel. The bream and silver fishing is, however, phenomenal at the moment. There are also some nice sized perch coming out too.

Severn Valley Barbel Products Ambush range is working well, as ever, but rolling meat has also proved effective for barbel and is definitely a technique worth trying.

Wychwood Specialist S1, S2 & S3 – BACK IN STOCK!

These have been by far our favourite range of barbel rods this year.

We see and handle an awful lot of tackle in the shop, but the Wychwood Specialist range has really impressed us. In fact, Adam and Steve have both put their own money where their mouths are and invested in the S3 for their own fishing! We never thought we would see Adam part with his Prodigy rods!

The S1, S2 and S3 give you a choice of rods across the Specialist range, whether you're looking for something for lighter work or a bit more power for serious river fishing.

Fancy fishing our charity match?

Here is how to book:

All bookings are made us not Andy. To book you need to message on WhatsApp or text 07427 798704 (this means Andy isnt inundated with calls).

This is a first come first served but we will have a reserve list.

Your place is only secure once you have been up to Bewdley Tackle and Leisure to pay in cash. Michelle will be in the shop this Sunday between 8.30am to 1pm to take money. If you are unable to drop in on Sunday, you have TWO WEEKS to pay for your ticket. We are having to be firm here because we have been inundated with messages from anglers. After that date your place will be offered to the reserve list.

Please note that your £25 entry fee is non refundable. It is for charity and if you can't make the match, 100% of the fee will go straight to Cancer Resrarch.

Now here is the small print - IF the match is cancelled due to flooding or extreme weather your £25 is going straight to Cancer Research. We won't be rescheduling the match.

What is the river looking like for the weekend?

We get asked daily what the river is doing. It is still unseasonably low. It is currently 0.28m deep. So let's put that into context... the river severn at Bewdley is currently less than an A4 piece of paper deep! In other words it's a tad low.

What is it fishing like though?

Pretty good! The fish are on the feed and good numbers of fish are now being caught. We went out on Tuesday and had a pretty successful afternoon on a mixture of either Severn Valley Barbel Products 8mm Hookers or Mini Dumbells on the hook and using Supreme7 in the feeder.

If you are coming up to visit us, don't expect the deep river with strong flow that you normally get. Instead it is a shallow and flow. Adapt your tactics and you should have a great weekend fishing.

Drop in and get your bait and enjoy this mild September weather.
